Hi Guys,

I fanally have my A7N8Xdeluxe2.0 installed in my case. i'm still working on getting me a watercooling steup, but i have palyed around a little and can't seem to get anywhere.

I have set my FSb at 134 and multiplier at 13.5 this gives me a 1800MHz system.which is about a 50mHz gain.

If I set my FSb to 135 my stayem doesn't boot. When Iset my multiplier to 14x it boots, but when i start my os'es win98se and winXP i get faults about missing or corrupt files, truned back to 13,5x everything is Ok again.

i thought that my hold up might have been my memory, which is Samsung Pc266 DDr ram(PC2100) but when i turn the speed back to 83% of FSb I still get the same results..no boot with 135Fsb. I didn't even mess around with the timings but I believe they are 7-3-3-3 I have set my AGp card at 60 since that is also el-cheapo.

I turned the Vcore up to 1.775 but get a readout through MBm that it is 1.80 not too big of a deal yet.

Anybody have any suggestions? I am a newbie and don't know why on earth i would be able to get more than 134 FSb out of my system.

Thanks,
M

New CPU. Nothing but bad overclocks from the pally 2100+ if I remember correctly. With the cost of a 1700+ Tbred what it is.... I got 2100Mhz out of a not so great stepping one.

No point getting new CPU

With his setup assuming his sig is right a 1700 Tbred wouldnt do much for him!

His ram is PC2100 so the High FSB needed for decent Tbred Oc is not available!? so i think at present his pally is ok but his ram is letting him down a tad! some 2100 ram has trouble getting to even 140 mhz fsb stable!

Well i do think that it is my memory that is holding me back for sure.

I was running Sandra and toast overnight without any problem when i checked in the morning. However, when i was running a MPEG-1 to -2 encoder from TMPGenc my computer rebooted for some reason, This was with my chip set at XP2200 (18xxMHz) so that's all about 80 MHz overclock and jumped up the Vcore up to 1.825 memtiming are 6-3-3-2T

Thinking it was something to do with the OS's that i had to reinstall, I was doctoring a bit, and decided to put it back to XP2100 to see if even the memory couldn't handle these timings.

Well the system is nice an dstable again, being at stock with the memory runiing at better timings. I knew that the Pally core wasn't the greatest, but surely I should be able to get more then a 80 MHz gain...even this isn't stable!!!!

I'm getting a little frustrated, but I'll work on my watercoolsetup and get some better Crucial 3500 RAm soon, heck i might even go get a XP1700 to play with, but I'm still thinking of going with the barton cores to see what i can get.

So far I could run more stable and better with my previous el-cheapo mother board from PcChips (clone ECS SIS735) but i just have to be able to get something more out of this.

P.S> I also can not install the Nvidia audio drivers in win98SE, in WinXPpro it works good....any suggestions?

I need to get a bump an this one.

Following just occured to me, but on my old mobo (PCCHIPS, but basically an ECs K7S5A) i could run 137fsb and 137 mem without a problem. Now on my A7N8X2.0-D it freezes on boot when I go past 134, that's all above 1 MHz increment, This motherboard has to be able to handle more, it's just boggling my mind now

Any inputs???

??

Hmmm what timmings are you using for the ram? cas 2.5 / cas 2 Im not sure what your ram is ?

But try setting the timing to 2.5 if it isnt already, also are you running the memory in dual channel mode if so maybe it is the fact that the Asus and the mem just arnt friendly with each other ? I mean wasnt there a problem at Nforce appearance with all sorts of ram?

Try just 1 dimm or in single channel mode??

Oh well at least your 2100 is running my old man crushed a 2100 earlier Tbred B with his ham fists and large screwdriver!!

Im really out of ideas other than higer mem voltage (not recommended) especially if your mem is low quality !

Anyway good luck!

I use Samsung DDr-ram, 1 stick of 512Mb PC2100 (266MHz) It runs at cas2 good, but it is set at cas2.5 now, timings are 6-3-3-2,5T I know it is cheap ram, and that is probably holding me up, but like i said on my previous mobo i could run both in 137Mhz no problem,
it is probably that I need another brand of ram, I will get me some PC3500 so that I can keep for a while, i just didn't know why on my cheape rboard it ran faster than this one.....

Anyway, you are probably right, and this mobo wants better ram to live with, so I'll jump with that. Right now I'm getting my watercooling setup done, so I want to get that up and running good, before i upgrade more.

Thanks, Woodenman!
