Hi all,
Not sure if this is the right place but I figured that most people here have tried VNC and might have configured this before.

I usually run VNC through a netgear fvs318 and a secure tunnel. This setup is for my dad. It would be much easier for me to be able to remotely fix his problems rather than driving an hour for a 3 min fix :D

I have the latest version of VNC installed on his PC, used all of the installation defaults and have verified that the server is running.

He has the above linksys router installed. I can get into the routers remote admin screens so i know the connections good.

In the port fowarding section I have 5800 fowarded (both protocols) to the PC ip as well as 5900.

When i try to connect on 5800 I get stuck at negotiating protocols and then I get an error about a DSM plugin or incompatible versions. If i try 5900 I just get a cannot connect to server message.

Should i have him re-install again or did I miss something in the setup?

thanks for any help.
