I just got 2x quanrum fireball cr 13gb hds for free. The have some crap on them and are formatted to somethig that I have never seen before. I tried o format the things but cannot. They are recognized by winxp as a normal hd (just cant write to them).

I wanna sell on of en to a friend and keep the other for a secondary puter. I would appreciate any ideas on how I can format the hds to ntfs or fat32. thanx

i would use a dos boot disk and Fdisk and just delet the partition, that has worked for me every time, then you can make the partition in NTFS or somthing with XP (or do NTFS in Fdisk), you might need a 98 boot disk or one that has Fdisk as a special thing, not sure ifnormal dos disks do:D

Delete the unsupported partition then repartition & format with whatever file system you like. FDisk can not format NTFS but it will see it, in a way, & can delete the partition so you can start "fresh".
