I just upgraded my computer to the Asus a7v133 motherboard and Athlon 1.33 processor with 266 fsb. The computer has 256 mg of PC133 7.5ns RAM, IBM Deskstar 46.1, 7200 rpm Harddrive, and VisionTech Geforce 2 GTS video Card – all used and tested on a MSI K7T Pro Motherboard powered by a Athlon 1200 mhz processor.

After setting up the Bios, I found that setting up the computer with Windows was a bear.. When I put in a start-up disk to “Fdisk” the drive, it would turn off the video and go to sleep constantly. I would have to keep pressing any key to keep it awake. I check all connections and every looked good, but it kept going to sleep. When I finally partitioned and formatted the drive, I proceed to install Windows ME. It wouldn’t go past 6% completed because the machine would go to sleep. I finally decided to put the drive my MSI K7T Pro Machine and install Windows there. It went without a hitch. After that, I installed the Drive in Asus computer and started it up. Windows found all the drivers needed, but by in each instance of restarting, the machine would go to sleep at the Windows ME opening screen.. the monitor would go black. I would have to constantly press a Key to bring it back to life. But once Windows is running, this computer Flies! It is very stable and very quick! CPU temperatures are average around 54C and motherboard temp is around 48C. Core Voltage is around 1.83.

I have found that in booting up warm, the machine freezes at the Windows ME opening screen and the monitor would go blank… I would have to constantly his the keyboard to wake it back up. But when I boot it up cold, it would boot up beautifully with no problems.

I haven’t played any video games yet.. but I afraid something is wrong with the video output on the board. To rule out the card I went and retested the Geforce 2 GTS card with my MSI K7T Pro machine and it worked great.

Any help would be greatly appreciated?

i would turn off all apm functions and reflash the bios if nothing its worth a shot. your temps certanly arent extreme matter of factly thats pretty normal with stock'o air cooling.
