Well, as expected Windows XP finally crapped the bed, had some corrupted file which made it freeze on boot (safe and non-safe mode).
I decided it best to do a clean install but I'm having an unusually difficult time converting and formatting the partition.
The setup is two 60Gig (120Gig total) on RAID 0, broken into a 20gig partition (the "C" drive - NTFS partition [logical]) and 90gig partition (the "D" drive FAT32 [extended]).
I have VERY valuable files on the D drive and don't want to mess it up.
Things I tried...
1.) windows xp boot disk - doesn't recognize the RAID hardware unless install is done from i386 folder copied from CD to the C drive (FAT32 only - which I haven't been able to achieve YET)
2.) ...using every disk utility on the ULTIMATE BOOT DISK CD with no avail- I tried to convert the NTFS to FAT32 so that I could use some other utilities to format it. All the FDISK utils don't recognize the correct size or won't convert properly.
3.) WIN98 boot disk + Partition magic 7.0 for DOS - crashes
So I exhausted every windows xp cd option, all the UBD CD options and my most hopefuly option the PM7.0 which crashed every time I tried it.
In one of the FDISK utilities on the UBD CD I managed to "convert" (use the term loosely) the NTFS to some FAT32 partition but it didn't convert it, it seemed only to change the "tag" for the FS.
BOTTOM LINE: The C drive is all kinds of miffed up from trying all the different fdisk variants and tools.
BOTTOM QUESTION: What is a good DOS partition program that's strong, and not likely to chew up my D drive while fixing and formatting the mess that is now my C partition?
Thanks
