as the title states. I have been through 4 tools in the past month. the cradle part where the lock tab on the connector is keeps breaking off and doesn't give me a secure cripming. any high quality crimp tools out there that are all metal? Or at least a lot higher quality? I tried the radio shack brand, and several from online places but none are what I would call commercial grade. I know some of you guys are in theit/network business so please help. Thanks in advanced.

Yep, I'm looking for one also. The plastic part on mine just cracked and broke off into a dozen pieces.

Hmmm, I'm thinking that the one I have is from radio shack. it's all metal. I spent like $35 on it. I've had it for several years and it's worked great the entire time. (I think i got it in like 1998)

The ones I have look just like these ones, minus whatever the black thing is between the handles (in the picture)

EDIT: I think that black thing is a ratcheting mechanism...mine doesn't have that, just works by the pressure you can muster from a single squeeze. But I've never made a bad termination, so I guess it's not necessary.

yeah, i guess if it's something that will be used quite often (like for work or something) then spending that kinda money would probably be worth it.

But for home use I think a $20-$40 would be more than good enough.

Jameco.com has several on their site. I've ordered from them several times, they are a good company and ship fast (just check on the shopping cart screen for ship dates. Sometimes it'll say that it won't ship until a certain date (Like those crimpers I linked earlier). But I usually order my stuff with USPS priority shipping and get it 2-3 days after placing the order. So they have a pretty quick turnaround.
