I'm getting a P4. That's a fact. May save a buck and buy a 1.3 or 1.4 ghz chip and overclock the hell out of it. Since P4s are new to me, I need some advice on purchasing a good overclocking board. Since raising the FSB past 400mhz is going to put strain on the board (and components), a board capable of clocking higher and maintaining stability is key.

Recommendations? I will also be keeping some of the components listed below, if some are not overclock friendly I would appreciate feedback on that too.

Those links, and the recommendation you made on my other thread, answered most of my questions.

Thanks!

You want the best P4 motherboard? Well, I heard that the ASUS P4T is the best motherboard made for the P4, go get that one!

Yeah, the Asus MB got a really good review. But I don't know how well it'll hold up to Oc'ing. If you can convince my boss to get one for me to "test", I can put it through it's paces....
=)

I have an asus P4T mob. P4 [email protected] The asus is a good mob but it's not a good overclocker.

Asus P4T

19" Hitachi .22dp

Thanks, one of the Asus links Placid left were to a review for one their boards that is a good overclocker... I'm tempted, however, to go with the abit... we'll see how I feel the day I order.

Thanks for the feedback.

I'm going with the P4 for a lot of reasons, but mostly because something still doesn't sit right with me and AMD (call it my 6th sense). Time will tell, and I can always change my mind later, but for now I'm still Intel all the way. I am upgrading so I don't have to for a while (and if you see my spec below, I need an upgrade :)) and I want to play the newest and fastest as it comes out on the geforce 3, and quite honestly, price is not a problem for me.

NOO! Don't get the Abit. Do you just want the Abit because you already own one and you think it is the best? I did lots of research on my mobo and the abits and I found out that my Asus was winning lots of benchmarks and had very good ratings. I have even read lots of reviews on the P4 motherboards and all of them say to go the Asus way!

Try something new, until I see that Abit has better performance than an Asus, then I will try something new. But until then, ASUS is KING

No... I just haven't seen anything to the contrary, at least nothing damning.

I was looking at the P4T. I like what I've seen thus far. Pricewatch $176.00 + $11.00 Hmmm...
