I added some new things since I had issues with Windows 10 I think, But I decided to not try to figure out all the problems I have had recently. And since I upgraded to win 10 free from win 7 I have had issues here and there.

I know you can do a fresh install after upgrading to win 10.

I decided to do a fresh install I need a new Win 10 disk with a key code.. so that was just to give you some history here are my Questions,
1. I bought a new graphics card it is a EVGA GeForce GT 730 4GB DDR3 128bit Dual DVI mHDMI Graphics Cards 04G-P3-2739-KR how much of a improvement is that over the current graphics card I have listed in my signature.

I see win 10 listed at several online merchants for different prices and I read bad reviews about not being able to activate the copy of win 10.
I figured at Amazon.com such a huge online place with a great impression I would be able to find a windows 10 pro 64 bit but I see they have issues also. So I guess I will just pay the $200 from the Microsoft store.

I guess what I would really like to know is with a new 480 SSD for my OS ( Win 10 Pro) and the new graphics card ( EVGA GeForce GT 730 4GB DDR3 128bit Dual DVI mHDMI Graphics Cards 04G-P3-2739-KR ) how much of a increase should I notice, I am planning to do a fresh install of Win 10 on the SSD and then connect all my other spin drives that are just for storage.

Will I see a big improvement for the $$ I will spend??

Thanks

Improvement in what? Looking at your video card selection, you don't game, so no improvements there. Windows offers little improvementsistself, but boot times and load times will, improve with the ssd. If those 'improvements are worth it to you......

If you do game you will see some improvement with the video card. Why did you replace the video card?

Because it was the oldest piece of hardware in my system, I do things to do them no need of a reason

All Windows copies from official sources have product key unavailable to see unless you open the package. If you get unpacked Windows copy then it's almost sure that someone used the key. If you got it sealed and it's still not working then contact Microsoft and they will give you new key after checking the issue.

I bought windows 10 pro on Thumbdrive 2 days ago

-Your 4790K will give you identical Windows desktop/2D experience as any high end graphics card. The GT730 is not an upgrade over the IGPU in the 4790K in any way, except perhaps ever so marginally for gaming.
You didn't need to go out and buy Win10pro, you could have just downloaded the Win10 installer to USB for free and used your Win 7 key to install your free copy of 10. If you had lost your 7 key you could extract it from the OS in 2 seconds with a free utility...

It's one thing to upgrade your computer but it's another thing completely to do sidegrades/downgrades and purchase pointless things that you already own/don't need/don't benefit you... You're just flushing money down the toilet for no reason (with all due respect, in my opinion)

I'm not berating you, insulting you, or otherwise trying to put you down. I just don't like seeing people set money on fire.

If you can return these items, please return these items (make sure you have your Win7 key)

Thanks for your very high horse opinion but I will spend MY money anyway I choose. Also the graphics cards are equal in numbers but this card is at least 6-8 years newer so it has to be a upgrade of some sort. You have the right to your Opinions but when someone doesn't ask help on money spent IMO should be kept to yourself, posting it just makes you look foolish IMO

After thinking about my reply to you it was a bit harsh and I am sorry. I wouldn't have had one problem if you disagreed with every purchase and said IMO you didn't improve your computer with hat purchase. where you ruffled my feathers was when you talked about me wasting my money, it's my money and I don't need anyone telling me I wasted my money. Trust me had you said I didn't make my computer any better with the graphics card I bought or any other part I am aware enough to realize I wasted my money.

I took your advice and returned the graphics card as I do agree with you I did not improve the system. I hope you understand why I was so harsh in my reply and once again I am sorry.

I don't find anything wrong with his reply. You asked us about the parts for the money you spent, and in his opinion, and mine, it was a waste of money to do those things. Clearly it's worth it to you, and that's awesome (and the only thing important), but you asked others, so you will get opinions that may not match yours. :)

I never once asked anything about cost

How am I on a high horse? Your inexperience lead to you burning money pointlessly, and I don't think you were aware of it until it was brought to your attention in this thread. Also, you said this: "Will I see a big improvement for the $$ I will spend??".
Getting mad at people for answering your question when the answer is not what you were looking for is a good way of making sure people won't want to help you again.

And no, the video card does not automatically need to be an upgrade of some sort just because it's newer.

The whole point of forums is to get advice and get better at what you're interested in. I'm not sure what kind of response you were looking for here...

I'm an adult and don't play video games on my computer

What's that supposed to mean? I'm an adult and I do play videogames on my computer. The average gamer today is about 30 years old. Things have changed...
I'm not going to respond to this thread any more. I feel the ban hammer of death in my future if I continue this conversation. It's just rubbing me the wrong way.
Good luck with your machine. Bye for now.

eaglepi,

Better get used the idea that some folks on this forum will speak their mind and not mince words. You will be in constant conflict on this forum if you take offence easily. Even the ones that come across as a little blunt usually are those with good hearts and really want to help. If you are a frequent participant over time you will come to realize this.

Oh my, I wasn't aware video games had an age limit...

Well crap.

Real talk : this is THE BEST forum for REAL advice. If you want people to kiss your butt and tell you what a "Great purchase" you made, there are other forums for that. Yes, some of us (absolutely including myself here lol) lack some "tact" that you may want or expect, but you can leave here knowing; for SURE, you received great advice that you can take to the bank. Sometimes, if you make a poor purchase (God help you if you buy a crappy psu!), then we will inform you of said poor purchase and 99.999999% of the time, we will advise on a better solution for yourself.

That said, I'm an adult, and I don't argue on the inter.... crap.... :chair:

Oh yeah, in keeping with our mantra...

Ask yourself 2 questions. 1) am I using extensive networking solution amongst multiple computers? and 2) am I using virtual machines? If the answer to both is "no" (most likely...), then windows 10 PRO is 100% a waste of money. Thats literally the entire point of it. Windows 10 home edition is literally what you're using it for. You can't return a used cd key, so make the best of it. You wasted money getting that (based on your intended uses), but 200$ and most likely will last you for years. Not the worst expense tbh; but certainly NOT the best lol. You wasted money here, and others pointed that out, but its true. Sorry.

An SSD is pretty much mandatory nowadays. The size is almost irrelevant, and most recent ssd's will provide fantastic performance. Even cheaper "entry level" ssd's provide fantastic AND reliable performance. You WILL notice a difference over a spinner, and nows a great time to buy... unless youre buying an overpriced nvme drive.

For the GPU, no you will see *NO* improvements what-so-ever. Sorry, but as mentioned, if you can return it, you should. For your uses, (assuming office software and browsing), theres literally no use for a gpu.
