Ok so my friend got a bunch of virus's so instead of trying to get rid of them I ran his system restore from his recovery disk . (the only disk that came with the pc)

Then after it was finished I try and find drivers for his system. It is a emachine c6415. So i go to the web site no drivers im like WTF this is messed up. On there site there is a chat feature with tech support so i try that. He points me to this site http://www.emachine-upgraders.info/ it is a un offical site that has drivers on it ( some guys runs this site since emachine are stupid and dont host drivers)

So i get the drivers i need ( or so I think) I take the cd over to his house and install them . The ATI chipset and VGA drivers and Sound install fine . The Nic drivers dont work ( thats ok cause the windows default driver does ) . But in device manager there is still somthing not working right . It is named PCI simple conumication controler . WTF is that ? (maybe a modem? )

So what ever I try and install his pci wire less card . it doesnt work I think i need the driver from above but i dont know what it is to look for any help would be great. Thx
Am i wrong or is not having that missing driver causing me my problems

Edit- So I have the wireless card with Me and i just poped it into my system here @ work . Installed and worked fine. So im thinking that the missing Modem drivers (that what I figure the PCI SIMPLE COM is ) is what is giving me my prob with installing the wire less card . because after clicking on the install progam from the cd here @ work it did more steps than last night @ his house .

First thing im gonna try when i get there to night is take out that modem . any ideas would still be great

If it's an on-board modem or ethernet you should be able to disable it in BIOS, then you won't need the drivers. If it's a card pull that puppy out ...!

Yea I didnt think of that till i was here today gonna give it a shot im hoping that with teh driver gone it will let me install teh wireless
