It's that time of the year again for the thunderstorms and power failures.
I need some opinions on good UPS systems for my computer. I don't need one that will keep it powered for a long time, just enough to get the system shut down properly. Something with some sort of 'smart' software that can handle the shutdown automaticlly if I'm not available to do it myself.
Thanks for your opinions and advise. :)

PS: I am using Windows XP (Home) and I do use a good surge suppresser.

I would reccomend the Belkin Universal 1200VA UPS.
It has a USB connection as well as the good ol RS232
(the serial port), AVR, 1200VA, Ethernet/telephone
serge protection, 4 battery backup outlets and 2 serge only.

The specs are a little different than the one on this page,
because they have a whole lot of typos. I ordered a whole
bunch of em and they have yet to fail me! It was also
shipped inexpensivly from belkin direct.

These are powerfull and far cheaper that purchasing an APC
of equal specs.
