Man this sucks! I tried to get my waterblock/pelt going tonight and cooked my xp2000! I ordered some 1/16 neopreme from danger den and I cut a shim out of it. I thought it was kinda thick but I figured if I just sinch domn the screww it will smash out. Well I sinched it down to where I thought I was going to pop a ziff lug and figured that would be good enough. I turned on my rig and it wouldn't post, so I turned it off and then on again and waited for about 20-30 sec and still no post. So I took the h2o block off and looked at the ACS3 I smeared on the cpu core and just about half a matchhead had made contact with the bottom of the h2o block. All of my mobo lights come on. I am sure it is a fried cpu, doesn't it only take a few seconds to fry one if it doesn't have good contact?
Do I have to have a shim? The core of the XPs' are really short.
I am going to buy another XP2000 tomorrow or the next day, right now i am stuck with my laptop.
Let me know what you guys think, thanks krag
