ok i got my network all finished up. love it btw! thanks to oc members for the help.anyhow i thought id test my speed on the cable modom.
one pc is running the test while i listen to broadband radio on the second pc.i ran like 5 differant tests on several sites.

its showing over 1-4mb per second! dang.my cable never had this speed before.ive tested it as i test everything.altho i know its sunday evening and im sure the usuage on the net is low.

anyhow can the router or the network speed things up? mabey change packet sizes or optimized some settings. just seems funny its faster.any thing i figured slower since 2 pc's sharing one line.

any thoughts?

the router will add latency (lag), if anything, because it is another device that the data has to go through, so it should slow down your connection very slightly, and not speed it up.

What does your ISP say your speed is?

actually i cant find the speed they say i should get.
its roadrunner cable,threw time warner.

depending on your location, those arent unheard of speeds.

i get 1.5-3m down depending on the time of day and internet congestion.

What are trying to get at ? are you complaing that you are getting good download speeds or what ?

A good way to speed things up (or atleast get better ping in games) is to set the MTU (normally in the router options) to 1500...that gave me a nice ping boost

I think he's asking why it is faster now because it was slower before. Is that right?

exactly mike.and im not complaining im asking how is it possable?
seems it would slow it down, not speed up the connection.

it seems all my router option are set at the siemens web site.
kinda odd but works.ya go there, they detect your router. you sign in with passwords.and then they flash the router.
very differant than anything ive done before.
