I have a 20 gig hard drive in my other computer which basically sits idle since i only use it to download stuff on kazaa and watch tv with wintv - is there anyway i could use the 20 gig hard drive i have lying around where i could run it as a slave and make money from being a file server or something ?

Well unless you have a very nice connection with high uptime and very fast upload then I doubt you would be able to make any money. Plus it may be against your ISP's user agreement. If you are really wanting to make some use out of it you could make your own web site and host it off that, once again if it is within your isp's rules, or you could just make it an area where you and your friends can share files.
