Proud to announce that I'm now posting this from Dual 2400's. Well, If you want to get technical, I'm posting from a 1700xp and a 2400 mp.

First off, temps. According to MBM, right now mine are at 46 and 49, although they fluctuate a few degrees up and down. Now they are at 45 and 47. 46 and 47. 44 and 47. 46 and 48. 45 and 47. Anyways, how do these temps look? They seem a little high to me, it seems like I was in the low 40's before, but it has been a while since I last was running two processors. I'm using AS Ceramica, and SLK-800's.

Second Question. Right now my voltage is at 1.7 or 1.75, can't remember. Is it possible to only give CPU2 its default voltage, or does it do this automatically, or is it even possible to run the cpus at differen't voltages?

I'll be back in a few with temps under load. I've got some dvd encoding to do.:)

edit: Been encoding for about 10 minutes now. MBM shows the temps at 51 and 52. According to it, they've been 55 at the highest. Am I okay?

Those temps look ok.

You won't hit instability on this board in my experience, until you get to about 60-65C. As a rule of thumb, I prefer to keep temps below 50-55C, but I don't worry if they go up to 60 or so.

You can run different Vcore's, I think, if the CPU's, themselves, have different default Vcores. I know you can run two chips with different Vcores in this board and I think that the board gives each chip whatever it asks for. If you set a manual Vcore, of course, that overrides the default setting.

I guess I'll try pinmodding the 1700 to 1.75, and setting bios to default. That should help bring my temps down on cpu2 at least. Thanks for the help, just the reassurance I need. They still haven't seen higher than 55, and usually hover around 50. Still a little uncomfortable for me, but i'll get used to it. Feel like an idiot, but i'm probably not getting low 40's because my vcore isn't stock. What an idiot.;)

Thanks again CMC.

My wife's dual Bartons run 57 to 60 degrees 24/7 with no instability problems, whatsoever. Her machine is tuned for low noise, at the tradeoff of slightly higher temps. Since the machine is rock solid and never crashes, I don't worry about the temps, any more.

CPFitz14, you're using SLK800As? What fans are you using with them? Do you think you have a good air flow in your case?
I think the temp is ok you wont hit any instability, but i would expect SLK800As do a better job.

AMD dual is real cool isnt it? I love mine :). Never lags when i do stuff.

Lets see:

Yes.
Yes.
Yes, I would too.

Yes. But I've had one before. I used to have a dual 1700 system, but do to leaving a fan unplugged, I had a single for a while. I then bought another 1700, which I couldn't get to work in MP, *and* I seemed to convert it to a 550mhz duron in the process.

I'm sort of surprised at the high temps, but I can live with them. After all, I'm giving them 1.75 volts. I changed my airflow around a little, which seemed to help a little bit. I've got one of the Chieftec/Antec/Chenming...cases. Right now I've got 2x 80mm front intakes, 1x80mm side intake, and 2x80mm intakes in the back. 1xexhaust out the psu. The fans in the back used to be exhaust, but my temps seemed to drop when I reversed them. Guess it brings in cool air over the CPU. Of course, the air pressure in their should keep the dust out now too, heh.:)

Oh well, I'll live with the temps. I can't really overclock anyway, because my 1700@2ghz is really the limit without putting voltage through the roof. As long as I'm stable, I'll be okay.

OH you got the exact same case (well under diff name . Mine is Chenming). SO you got the exact same case ventilation that i got :)

Ok I'm runnning 1800+@stock with 2 SLK700s (using TMD fans). My temp idle is 35c, 36c, at full load is 43c and 45c (runnning Prime for hrs).

So i think you should remount the HSFs. Also try to reverse the fans see if that helps. In my opinion, reverse the fans will definitely help cause hot air will be sucked right away. I cant do this with mine cause the stupid TMD fans

After all, the SLK700s do their job very well:)

CPFitz14, what kind of fans are you using on those SLK-800's? If you are using a low noise fan, like a Panaflo L1A, then those temperatures sound just right. I'm getting nearly identical performance with my SLK-800's and L1A's.

Sheesh. Whenever I read other peoples temp posts I feel like I'm doing something horribly wrong. When I was running my 1700+s I had to run my fans wide open just to stay below 60C. I sold those and got a pair of 2100+s and have them clocked to 1950 stock Vcore and I was jumping for joy when i noticed my average temp is 48C while crunching seti 24/7. My opteron system is another story though. Average temps range from 58-65C with case open. I think I'm gonna go put a refridgeration system in my Opteron case now lol.

sorry Xtc4u :(,

Well i found my SLK700s are amazing. My temp drop 10c from the Glaciators. I bought them because the boxing day sale. Still not a good deal for American but good enough for Canadians :). Beside i hate Glaciators, they make very weird noises

I'm using you're average generic fans. Spinning at full speed, 3100 rpm, they push about 35 CFM. They're always at full speed too.

I've remounted to no end, bent the HSF clips for more pressure, tried more AS3, Less AS3. Ah well, I've gotten over it.

Well, If you want to get technical, I'm posting from a 1700xp and a 2400 mp.

ooooooook let me get this straight... your running 2 entirely different cpus, a 2400 mp and a 1700 xp in a dual setup?!?

I thought the slk 800 would cool better then that, i have a tyan mb, and i run the 2100 @ near 2400 speed (1.9ghz 145*13=1.885ghz) and my load temps are under 45c with zalman 6000's as seen here

It all depends on the fans used, the case airflow optimization, and the room temp, really.

All things being equal, the SLK-800 beats almost every heatsink on the planet.

In the real world, however, not all things are equal. Every rig has its own peculiarities.
