New 9700 heatsink mod!
here are some pictures of a how i modified a p4 heatsink to fit my 9700. before this mod, after ut2003 you could not keep your finger on the back of the chip as it would burn you. now im at 360mhz oc and i cant even get the damn thing to get warm. heatsink was machined to sit down onto the chip inside of the shim, it is held in place with loctite #384 thermal epoxy. memory is at 330mhz. i will be making ram sinks this weekend and pushing the ram a bit higher. the problem with the ram is that it isnt so much a heat issue as it is an issue of it just doesnt want to go too much higher by design.

Nice!I'm using the Crystal Orb Cooler on my gpu.Unless you can vmod the mem you won't be able to get above 345mhz on the mem with or without heat sinks.At least thats my current state.

I actually ran through all of 3Dmark at 350/350 totally stock.......but now it won't o/c for anything, wierd.

I had to back my core to 380.At 385 I noticed very faint garbage while playing some ut2003 with my friends.

My mem won't do over 345 either, with aluminum ramsinks.

I've seen a few 1 or 2 people say they got their mem up high, but I think they are either lucky or full of s&*t. Its more likely the later, but anything is possible I guess.

i upped the core to 371 and mem to 342............total stability with q3 looping in timedemo for 1 hr. lol here is the funny part, i still can not feel heat on the back side of the chip!!!!!

Wow dragon so the crystal orb works that well. I have on just layin around. I think Ill put it on my 9700.

but seriously, that is encouraging as im going to try to push mine higher today, i have not had a single hicup yet at 371/342. ill post my results..............
