new AS5 cycles w/ water cooling

I know that AS5 can take many heat cycles to ... "cure".. i was thinking.. i have my pump and rad fan on separate electiric loop from comp.. i could run prime for hours w/ rad fan on lowest speed and then shut computer off.. turn fan up and let the pump cool it off quicker while the comps off to speed up these cycles..

any input?
 
i also thought that one of the other components to the break in was vibrations from the heatsink fan, but with watercooling there are none. you could attach a vibrator to your block to help it break in while you put it through the heat cycles....


in the end, im not sure how much this would help, and it would take a long time to test for any changes.

those would be some very different pics than what is usually seen around here :D
 
Don't do anything different than normal except if you don't normally shut down your computer, do so several times for an hour or so now and then.

This topic is starting to remind me of a thread about resetting CMOS a while back. People are making the AS settling in period some sort of ritual.

This is straight from the AS-5 page on AS.com:

Important Reminder:
Due to the unique shape and sizes of the particles in Arctic Silver 5's conductive matrix, it will take a up to 200 hours and several thermal cycles to achieve maximum particle to particle thermal conduction and for the heatsink to CPU interface to reach maximum conductivity. (This period will be longer in a system without a fan on the heatsink or with a low speed fan on the heatsink.) On systems measuring actual internal core temperatures via the CPU's internal diode, the measured temperature will often drop 2C to 5C over this "break-in" period. This break-in will occur during the normal use of the computer as long as the computer is turned off from time to time and the interface is allowed to cool to room temperature. Once the break-in is complete, the computer can be left on if desired.

The AS3 takes about the same amount of time to break-in as the AS5. With a watercooled system, most people don't notice that their CPU temperature dropped a degree or so per month for 4 or 5 months because the season changes during that time and the ambient temperature changes. But then when they remove the waterblock and remount it with fresh compound, they initially see higher temperatures as they start the brake-in period over again.
