hey guys im building a new comp in a bout a week and im confunkled on the ram i wanna get.. i came to the conclusion of this ocz pc4200 ddr 522 mhz performance 512x2 dual channel kit. it has higher latency but from what ive heard this will make up for and then some for slower memory and lower latency. (this is according to the memory i have put into my price range)

http://www.ocztechnology.com/products/memory/OCZ+DDR+PC-4200+Dual+Channel

anyways. my official question here is will my athlon 64 3200+ handle 10x266? (which from what my knowledge brings me to will match the ram 1:1) or will i be putting my chip through jeapordy. also if i decide only to bring up my fsb to 233 can i slow my ram down and increase my latency? here is my setup as of right now

PLEASE ignore the prices because they are in canadian and everyone knows prices are jacked up, up here. anyways as you can see i am getting water cooling for temperture should not be an issue... my board is the asus a8n sli deluxe which to my knowledge handles over clocking very well in all prospects. and 2 6600 gt's which should have much to do with my current question. please if all can help me with this because i dont want to be putting my new chip through too much stress and what not... i want the pc to last but at the same time be fast :) thanx to all in advance

Just incase it's not a typo, you say 2*512 above, and in the system description is says 2*256... wouldn't want you to get 512 of ram when you thought you were getting a gig.

Even if your processor can't run at 10*266, you can lower the multi to 9 or something so you can run the FSB and memory at that speed.

I'd question the two 6600's a bit. It might be a better idea to buy a single 6800 GT now, which will be plenty of power for quite some time, and then buy a second 6800 gt when they are much cheaper and your system can actually use the extra power. This option saves you money now, and gives you a better computer in the long run.

i would say ...?..
SLI only do good result on 6800GT/Ultra
C/P totally suck with the price with ASUS EN6600/GT GeForce 6600GT 128MB
OCZ Performance Series PC4200 DDR533 256MBx2 CAS3
that high latency kill ur system with that low fsb.
If u want to get higher FSB, get TCCD.I just bought my Gskill DDR600 LA 1G for 299usd at newegg.
Lower timing get a VX series with high voltage.
I look for many ppl said matttheniceguy
buy single 6800 GT wouldn't be a good idea, and later buy another one. Later on Nvidia or ATI release a far better card, it always happen, don't ask me when will this happen.
i owned a 9800PRO@XT and 3-4 months later X800PRO came over double the performance of me.What would i say.
If you want to go on NVIDIA,SLI not really a cool C/P, but performance does.
If you go on ATI, just get sth like X800XT or X850XT(PE if available)
In many review, ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe Dual isn't that good for overclock with 1T timing.
on the other hand, DFI do better on OC result.

Ranger, that ram you linked is optimized for an Intel system so I would suggest you pick something else. Also, the 3200's as of late have had difficulty running up past 2500mhz, but you never know what a chip can do till you test it for yourself.

Yeah, rseven, u are right, recently 3000/3200+ 0503/0504 had a hard time to pass 2500mhz, but very few of them can. Just like very few of CBBHD can't pass 2700mhz.
I'm looking for a AMD64 3000/3200+ that pass 2500-2600, 2700+ i will be very happy.
But i don't think most of CBBID can do that.
PS. gd morning rseven, i'm in NYC

I think you'd be best off with a 3000 as they overclock just as well as the 3200, they cost less, and the higher multiplier is worthless if it doesn't go above 2600mhz.
Good morning to you sinsinking. It must be cold in the canyons this morning. It feels like mid January in Jersey.

OFF TOPIC i'm in Brooklyn
Yesterday morning was rainning at this time->snow->afternoon snow melt->water->night time turn ice.. Sunny right now but later will be cloudy and windy.
It just like all ppl said all CBBID are crap-> then i look for some forum not only overclockers->find some not bad result of CBBID->.....saw some 2.2-2.3 ghz result->0503-0504 do ok with oc around 2.5ghz->but...how can i know is the problem lol...

ill look into the memory then.. but im having a very hard time finding something decent for under 300$ @ the stores im shopping @. http://canadacomputers.com/ http://pccanada.com/

as for the 6800gt/ultra. in Canada here i can get the two asus 6600gt's for 600 but the 6800 gt/ultra start off at 600$ but ill think about it but the 6600gt's just seem so tempting :) cpu i will consider the 3000+ and what not but the mobo i dont really want the dvi so ill prolly stick with the asus anyways thanx guys :)

i hav ethe same questoin kind of i guess

I was wanting to try to get an amd processor up around the 2.6 Ghz and i was wondering if you can even pull it off with 3500. I have had several people say i should just get the 3200. Or a 3000. I have an athlon xp 3000 right now so i was wanting to put something that was a little faster in my pc. But is it really worth getting a 3500 or not. or can you even get it up to 2.6 ghz

There must be some brand of TCCD you can get up there. Down here PDP and PQI are the cheapest. Good luck with the new rig.
