Hey guys, It's been a while since I've been on here.
I'm going to be building a new comp, I picked out parts for my last one, but My cousin built it for me, Now i'm hoping to build it myself but once again I need some help/input from people who know their stuff.
I'll post links and keep in mind I'm from Australia, so prices will be different to where most of you are from, but this is what we have to pay unfortunately.
My goal is to build a midrange computer for gaming and possibly some video editing. and some GIMPing.
Case:
Thermaltake Black Commander MS-III
$65

PSU:
Cooler Master 600W G Series PSU 80+ Bronze

CPU:
Core i5 4670
$260

Ram: (one of two options, but am open to suggestions)
Corsair 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3 1600MHz CL10 LP Vengeance
$185 (on special atm, don't know what price will be when it comes off.)
http://www.centrecom.com.au/corsair-16gb-2x8gb-ddr3-1600mhz-cl10-lp-vengeance-3
16GB G-Skill (F3-1600C9D-16GSR)
$186

SSD:
Samsung 840 EVO Series 120GB
$107 (prices go up and down every so often though.)
http://www.centrecom.com.au/samsung-840-evo-series-120gb-ssd
Graphics Card:
GTX 760 OC
$309

Total:
$1095 AUD
Tower, not really fussed about, it looks good, has usb ports in the front, (although im not sure if it comes with a front fan.)
PSU, I was urged by a friend to not buy a case with a built in PSU, and I've read reviews on this PSU and they seem mostly good, 3 bad ones, one being that he didn't get money for a cashback promotion. (is 80+ Bronze still a good PSU?
SSD, Been looking at that for a while now, but held off till I bought a new comp. Samsung just seem like they'd be reliable to me, there's also similar Kingston SSDs for a similar price from this company.
CPU, I have a i5 760, and it's been overheating when I play some games such as Skyrim, and couldn't go more than 5 mins when playing Rise Of The Triad (does anyone know if this CPU is prone to overheating?) I don't plan on overclocking so will a stock CPU cooler be okay? even though the i5 760 was reaching 80 degrees celcius on a 30 degree celcius plus day (summer time, we are in winter atm and idle temps for my 760 is around 30 degrees celcius)
This CPU seems like its an upgrade while not going up a step to a i7 which would cost $100 more.
Motherboard, good thing I looked up someone building a comp here with that motherboard, went to a link in his thread and found that this motherboard had compatibility issues with the OCZ Vertex 2 SSD, which I plan on also using in the new comp. (Im going to e-mail Gigabyte about this, but has anyone heard anything about it?)
Ram, these are among the cheapest (from this company) that is in the 16GB capacity, If I went for 8GB then I could get it down to about $100, but I suppose my question for this is, is 8GB going to be enough for the next 2-3 years for gaming? It's going to be some probably light video editing, it's not a full time job, it would be a hobby so I think I could live with 8GB What do people think? also is there a noticeable difference between 9 and 10 latency?
Graphics card, I have a GTX 460, was good at the time, is still good but a few days ago my comp crashed and now my gpu isn't being detected, i can still use it to view things , not play games (it's weird.) And the 760 seems like it would be the next midrange card to go for.
I didn't include a DVD drive, because I will salvage that from my current comp, I have an external 2TB drive hooked up via eSATA, which i'll be buying a adapter for it since the Thermaltake tower doesn't have a built in eSATA port, no does the MB.
All Up this build is going to cost $1095 Aus, that doesn't include a CPU cooler if I choose to get one, or a DVD drive, (still using speakers, mouse, keyboard etc)
Any help and input/suggestions is greatly appreciated, thanks guys.
Ba!nesy.
EDIT: I forgot to mention, the reason I'm asking for help is because although I've looked at everything I want to make sure that i've chosen products that will work with each other. Thanks.
