Just upgraded from an Athlon xp 2800+, Abit NF7-s w/agp video card to Athlon 64 3000+, Epox 9npa w/pci-express. I don't want to format my harddrive so I ran Windows XP Pro repair. It runs through this initial part fine. The says after restart Windows will finish installing (setting up, i forget which). Then it gets to the windows splash screen and then a blue screen. It says a problem has been detected so windows shutdown.
"PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA" Then says to remove and reinstall any new hardware. And then SiWinAcc.sys - Address F7C43000 base at F7C43000, Datestamp 00000000

I'm using the ddr ram out of my old computer so I know that's fine. I have a new Allied 500w psu, I've tried reseating everything, except processor, I've tried only one stick of ram. What could it be. Do I need to format my harddrive?
Please help.
Kevin

Oh, it does post fine, i have reset the cmos, and all settings are default, except to boot from cd-rom (to run winxp setup).

Try resizing the partition on another pc, and install XP onto that. If it doesn't complete properly, I'd suspect the power supply. Allied is a rather cheap company, in a bad way. +12v 20a is nowhere near average on a 500w psu, more like what you might see in a good 350-400w.

After checking around, I've determined it's a problem with the SATA drivers, not being installed. My motherboard didn't come with a floppy, but did come with a cd. This tries to either create a floppy, or install the drivers itself (not sure which) either way it's trying to do it with a driver B: This drive does not exist on my computer. Many of you recommend and have this motherboard, so if anyone can help I'd greatly appreciate it.
Thanks in advance.

I had a problem installing XP onto my SATA drive when i first built my pc, i found if you use a IDE cable first off to install xp onto the drive then switch to SATA.

Athlon XP 2800
Abit NF7-S V2.0
80GB Maxtor Sata Hard drive
1GB PC2700 Ram
GeForce FX 5700 Graphics Card

Thanks

Thanks for the feedback but how would I go about hooking up a SATA drive to an IDE?

buy a converter.

it's just easier if you download the proper driver for your SATA controller, put them onto a floppy, and do the F6 thing when prompted by Windows Setup.

I think I figured it out.I'm pretty sure the floppy drive connector on the mb is broken, it's missing a pin. I'm gonna hook up the HD to an IDE connector and run it that way and see if i can't install the SATA drivers. Thanks for all your help.

Just put all your device drivers on the XP install cd .. Use Nlitos . . . .
