My dad asked me to build a computer for him. This means I'll actually be upgrading my own and passing off my cpu and memory to his new pc.

Now, I know a guy at AMD who can probably hook me up with a T-bred, so that's gonna be my main focus for the time being. I have to get a hold of him and find out how much he'll charge me for it. If I can't get the T-bred, I'll go with an 1800+.

Anyway, I'm going to install F@H stealthily on his new pc where it'll never be found out. Hehehe. He wants a stable pc, so I'll probably let my old 1600+ run around 1522. And I'm hoping for 1.65 with a new XP or better with a T-bred in my rig.

Right now I'm folding at 1.63Ghz, but once I hook up my Cel 500 laptop and build this pc for my dad... this is just a guess, but my little farm should total 3.7Ghz or more!

Also, I might put Folding on my roommate's PIII 933 and on my girlfriend's T-bird 1000. I got a couple other friends with OEM machines that I'm going to try to convince to join Team 32, maybe only part-timers. Got work on them some...

Nice work Arkaine. I'm talking to non-techie friends of mine and trying to get them involved as well.... I've been offering "free* tech support as an incentive. I install your new memory, you fold for team 32

I'm running an 1800+ on my main rig and have no problems at all...

I have emailed details of F@H to my next door neighbour - but he is way for the weekend. I have also got my friend folding on her celery, part time. It is from Dec 2000 so it will only be about 500Mhz to 700Mhz and may not finish WUs in time. One of my other friends is also folding on his dads P3/500 - I am not sure how it is doing as I have not had ime to inquire. There is also F@H running on the librarian's PC, I have no control whatsoever over how and when it folds.

Here's what I think I can do... hoping to get at least 2/3 of the Mhz in this list going...

My farm:

In the sig- 1.6Ghz - 1.63Ghz depending on if its hot in my house. (going 24/7 already)

Laptop 500Mhz- Gotta make space on my desk for it. (tomorrow)

Girlfriend- Tbird 1000 (part-time)

New comp I'm building for my dad- 1.53Ghz (part-time), and I get to upgrade my cpu, hopefully to about 1.7+Ghz. (witihn 2 weeks)

Old Emachine parts- Celeron 550, crappy mobo, case, psu, memory. Needs HDD, FDD, monitor, modem/nic, and cd drive. For sale or I can maybe scrounge and get it running in a few months.

Recruits I'm working on (probably will have to mod and tweak to get some of these people):

Roommate- P3 933 (24/7 potential)
Friend- P3 750 (24/7 potential)
Friend- Tbird 1.2 (24/7 potential)
Friend- Athlon 1.13 (24/7 potetial)
Friend- P3 1000 (part-time)
My old high school science teacher- However much, if any, she can get the school's computers folding! (no idea on how they connect or if they're on 24/7 or even what they're running now)

Potential Totals: me personally- 2.75Ghz or so
Part-time folders under my name- 2.53Ghz
Independent Recruits- 4.013Ghz... pretty sure I can get 2 of them for 1.95Ghz
Possible High school science lab and or computer lab computers- ?????

update

Moving... setup of laptop 500 Mhz delayed until next week. Personal rig cpu and memory upgrades delayed for a few weeks due to car repairs sucking up all the fundage.

Recruits: 1.0 T-bird confirmed to start within 2 weeks under my name.
1.2 T-bird to start next week under my name.
750 P3 contacted and 90% certain to start next week under my name. Awaiting confirmation.
working on my roommate's 933 P3, but no definite answer... not included in total below.

All of these will be 24/7. Total: 3.450 Ghz coming soon, in addition to my own 1.633 Ghz.

School computers!!!

I just talked to my old High School science teacher about F@H. She really likes the idea of Folding. She said she'd check it out and set it up on the 6 computers in her classroom/lab. And that she'd also pass the info around to the other faculty members. She didn't seem to think any permission from the district would be necessary(she's so cool!). I didn't ask about the cpu's of the school's PCs, but it is a small school in a rich district and the computers are pretty new, so I'm guessing that she can get several GHZ of school PC's folding for Team 32. They will probably fold under my name initially, I hope... and may change the name to the name of the school at some point. It might also generate interest among some of the students to start folding on their own pc's. Maybe I should do a little modding to get them to run cooler and OC a tad if possible.

I only hope she doesn't have trouble setting it up on the school's network. I referred her to our forums if she has any trouble. So help her out guys if there are any complications.
