So I was thinking and I decided that my current computer wasn't good enough for what games I was playing. Then one of my friends gave me the idea to bulid my own gaming rig so here I am. Here's my specs

CPU: Intel Core i5-4670K 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor

CPU Cooler: Corsair H100i 77.0 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler

Motherboard: MSI Z87-GD65 Gaming ATX LGA1150 Motherboard

RAM Memory: Corsair Vengeance Pro 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-1600 Memory

Storage: Intel 525 Series 120GB mSATA Solid State Disk
(Some Guides I've seen recommend getting a SSD for your operating system to be stored on and a hard drive for all your files, games, e.t.c so I'm not quite sure whether to go for that idea or just 1 SSD)

Video Card: MSI GeForce GTX 770 2GB Video Card

Case: Inwin GRone (Gray) ATX Full Tower Case

Power Supply: Cooler Master V700 700W 80 PLUS Gold Certified ATX12V / EPS12V Power Supply

Optical Drive: Lite-On IHAS324-07 DVD/CD Writer

Thermal Compound: Antec Formula 7 Nano Diamond 4g Thermal Paste

Operating System: Windows Eight 64 bit

Cost:1772$

Is this setup good? Please don't post any upgrades because my budget was 1650 to 1700 so im already over. If anything is overkill let me know.

Thanks for the help! :)

Hey, welcome to OCF!

When trying to recommend a build to you, there's some information that's extremely helpful for us to know. If you could answer these few short questions, we'd be happy to help!

  • What are you planning to do with this computer? Please be as specific as possible.
  • What is your budget (in your own currency)?
    1. Does this include a copy of Windows?
    2. Does this include peripherals (a keyboard, monitor, mouse, speakers, etc.)?
  • Are you from the United States or a different country? Are you ordering from your own country or from across borders?
    1. Wherever you may be from, does the store that you are planning to order from have a website? It's okay if it isn't in English, we can manage.
    2. If you are from the United States, do you live nearby a Microcenter?

Once again, thank you in advance for taking the time to answer these, and I hope you enjoy your stay at OCF! :)

It might be easier it you listed what games and what resolution you intend to game at.

A 770 @ $400ish might be overkill - then again may not be depending on the game and resolution.

Some people may argue that a 4670K may be sufficient for gaming as well. Could shave of a few bucks there(?)

If you live near a microcenter, use combo deals, or can find something on sale (think Amazon, Newegg, etc.) you generally can save some money there as well.

PCpartpicker.com is an online site that "sources" discounted prices. Please try to use the "click throughs" here from O/C forums - our Glorious Leader will be most appreciative! :borg:

I live in canada so CAD 1650 to 1720 and no it does not include peripherals because I already have a goof gaming mouse, keyboard and headphones.

I'm ordering from Canada to avoid Duty and No I don't live near a microcenter

Decide to use 16gb instead for my bulid, and many people have reccomend i5 for me so im taking that instead thanks

I see you have already made the decisions to change to the i5 and drop to 16GB of ram, you may want to make those changes in the original post so you have fewer people making those suggestions.

I agree with using an SSD for the OS and any other frequently accessed programs while using a HDD for mass storage so I would suggest going that route.

Everything else seems fine to me, maybe one of the PSU Gurus such as BOBNOVA will be in soon to comment on that specific PSU.

Please (at the least) search the forums on issues with H100i. If you want to go that route a Swiftech H220 would be a much better option.

irobot.

If you actually read the forums and use Google instead of staying in your own little post vacuum you will see many issues with the H100i. Please learn, become informed. You're getting ready to spend thousands on a PC but you need to learn, become informed. It's your stuff, we do the best we can.

I cannot recommend the H100i.
