Hey guys, long time member here, but been out of the OC'ing scene since I opted for a laptop after my old Opty 144/DFI Ultra D build over a year ago. So i'm looking for some help...
Since I just purchased a 32" LCD HDTV (1080i, not 1080p), I plan on using his for my monitor for my main computer & HTPC use. I dont game all that much, but when i do, i play: Joint Ops, Blackhawk Down, Fear, Tiger Woods Golf, etc - so as you can tell, they are not all that highly graphic demanding games. I also have HD service and a DVR and what not to use with this. Id like to build an HTPC but also use this as my primary rig. Only catch is id like to do it fairly cheap but still have a nice rig. I'm looking to keep my budget around $500-600.
Im sure some may suggest a dual core or conroe, which i am open to as well, as long as i can stay within my budget.
My thoughts were something along the lines of this:
Case - $100-150
CPU: Socket AM2 ~ $110
Mobo: ? (id like a PCI-Express port and the ability to OC) Perhaps something with nice audio that I can run to the TV as well to get surround sound out of my 6.1 receiver
Memory: 1gb $110
Sata HD: $80
Vid Card: maybe a 7600gt? ~ $130 Im really looking to get something w/ component outputs since my HDMI plug on the TV is in use by an upconversion DVD player.
DVD R/W - $32
Can you please help me out with the main parts - CPU/Mobo/Vid Card?
If anyone has had any experience with nice HTPC cases, im all ears!
Thanks!
