I was surfing around for info on a different Iwaki pump when I found these. The RD-05H is a 24VDC water pump. This pump is almost silly, its so powerful. It has Max flow rate of 6lpm and Max head of 9m. This is rated at only 17watts output. I have not found this pump any where but at Iwaki's Web Site. I wrote them for info on the pump and a list of resellers stocking it. I would love to hear peoples thoughts on this pump.

Ya, I've been searching for that pump for the last two weeks, not one single vendor that I spoke to even plan on selling them. Apparently, they're geared towards OEM use, so if there isn't an OEM who purchases these pumps in a large quantity regularly, distributors will not likely stock these new pumps. That's what I got from Iwaki anyways.

You should be able to run two 12v lines to make up the 24v needed. You may even be able to control this pump by lowering the volts.

You could hotwire pin 10 (12v) to pin 12 (-12v) and get a 24v source. I have no idea what it would do to your motherboard.

I was thinking of adding a small PS to run the pump and maybe a few drives. Just slice the green 'power on' wire to the one on your main PS. The whole system will then turn on/off by the front power button.

no you cant run the 12 and -12, the -12 doesnt have the power, and yeah, some power supplies will supply that kind of voltage, Find out the amount of current and if you can get ahold of one, I will show you the parts you need to make your own if you really want.

It requires 21.6v to get started up, then it can run anywhere from 13-24v.

Good luck finding that pump. Even Iwaki told me I'd have a hard time finding it. :)
Although, if anyone does fine it... pls let me know... :D

I just called Iwaki and spoke to Jason. He gave me the phone number of a local reseller. I have called the reseller and they are checking on the Price for the RD-20 and RD-30. There may be a discount for buying a num ber of these. A gruop buy may be needed to get a good ( better) price. Hopefully I will hear back with in a hour or so.

Finally found some price info. I figure the ideal model would be the RD-20 since the RD-05 has an 8mm outlet. This sucker is $192..... ouch...... a little discouraging.

Yep. I spoke to Iwaki many times... If we order 1,000 units, we can get the RD-20 in 12V for about $130 each. Anyone got $130,000 laying around?

I was trying to get an RD30 for my rig back in june 2002 and found out the same thing.. iwaki will only sell RD series pumps to OEMs. So I bought an MD20R instead and it has been great.

ok, I just got a quote no the RD-20 24VDC of $180each for 6+ units. A little pricey...
