Hey folks,

Quick, possibly dumb question for ya. Just bought a new P3v4x motherboard and I've got a problem - The power led button (combined into one plug internally) is 3-pin, yet the board only allows for a 2-pin connection for power button! What can I do to get the sucker to turn on short of getting a totally new PC case?

Thanks for any help!

just so i get this straight you have the wires from your case, and the power and led light are combined to a 3 pin connector? and your MB has 2 pins for the power button and another 2 pins for the led light?

if so there may be some help, you may be able to get some female connectors that fit the pins on your MB and wire it up so it works but before i did that i would read the manual for the case and the MB and see what they have to say about it if the led light and power on\off pins are next to each other maybe its ment to fit on 3 of the 4 pins

i'm just throwing out some ideas if after reading you dont come up with a answer then i would check back here and see if someone else has delt with this before. I know modding your wires will work but i would only do this as a last resort.

If you a have 2 wire reset switch on the case you can use the reset button to turn it on-off.
Thats what I use on one case I have that was for a at type power supply.

Well this is an old case for a P-166, so that may be the problem. Everything else connected up fine, I just can't get the damn thing to turn on! Unreal. All because of 3 pins vs. 2. I hate computers some days.

Yeah, it looks like the power LED and the switch itself are combined into one stinkin' 3-pin connector (it says "power led" on it). I can see inside the case that pressing the power button sends signals down these 3 wires. Anyone know how I'd hafta rewire it? Guess I could always just get a new power button. Ugh what a pain.

Unfortunately, the case has but one button, the power button, on it. No reset button at all. There's 3 wires inside, one for IDE LED, the one I mentioned above, and an unmarked blue/white combo that I'm not sure about really.

Any other ideas, folks?

I figured it out...Chalk it up to late night stupidity! Thanks!

Now if I can just figure out why the thing won't even POST at 133 FSB with my PIII-750...Uggggh. Anyone got any hints? I bought this new board in the hopes OCing it would be really easy. :)

Cards not in all the way, memory not in all the way,cpu not in all the way, power connector not in all the way,
power supply too weak, memory not compatable.

Well if your default FSB is at 100 then try clocking it back down until its stable and then try and work your way back up hopefully figuring out why you cant go farther.

goodluck
