In the very near future I will be upgrading to a P4 2.8 800fsb with an ASUS P4P800 mobo. I will be utilizing the dual channel ddr with 512mb pc3200.

My question is about my video card. I dont have too much to spend. Should I go with the 9800Pro (avg price $300) or would a 9700Pro ($228) do the job? I haven't really thought about Nvidia even though I currently use one. I will be playing games like HL2 Doom3 etc. Thx in advance

the 9700pro should more then do the job, yet many of todays games are XBOX ports.
the ports are not always done well, and like halo, the performance stinks.
with my high end system, I did quite well with my 9700pro, yet a 9800pro should be better.

anyway, HL2 and DOOM3 will run alot better and be visualy better as well.
if you must save money, then get the 9700pro...you could OC it btw, and get just bellow 9800pro speeds.

good luck
