Hello. I need info before the computer show on Friday Jan 15. I'm planning to buy parts to build a new comp. I recently bought a EP-D3VA VIA Apollo Pro 133a http://direct.mwave.com/mwave/DOC/D3VA.HTML Is this a good motherboard as Abit? It can hold a dual PIII 933 or one AMD. I ran into this site while searching how to overclock. I'm not really sure where to start off. I do want my cpu overclocked in the near future. So far I'm planning on getting one PIII 933 and another probably 6 months from now. I need help on other parts like a good hard drive, memory brand, sound card, and video card. My budget is $1000 give or take $50. My idea was to get one PIII 933 mhz, 7,200 rpm 30 gig HD, PC133 256, $100-$150 video card, and a $50 sound card. I spend $160 on the mother board so far....I'm on a time frame....PLEASE HELP- need speed!!! Where should I go from here?

First off, save yourself some money and headaches. Can the 933 idea. Get a PIII-700E and overclock it to 933 instead. You'll get a LOT more bang for your buck that way. I personally like Western Digital HDD's. but the IBM is probably the best regarded. I use Mushkin rev 2 memory and it's very good, as are Micron, Crucial and a couple others. Video cards I'm not too current on since I'm not a gamer and I'm still using some sound cards I have had for a year or two. I'm sure someone will come along who knows more!

Good luck- your plan sounds good. I have a dual PIII-700@1 GHz machine and I like it a lot. I'm sure you will as well.

Hello. I already bought a dual CPU motherboard. I think I will have to work with that. I was hoping on buying a 933 and then get another 933 cpu when the price drops to around $200...so it makes it at 1.8 ghz. And then I was planning on overclocking both cpu to whatever I can. I don't know anything about overclocking cpu, but my friend does. So do you recommend getting at least a 700??? I'm really in the need for speed, and don't mind spending alittle extra for the 933 right now. It's selling for about $297 on pricewatch.com As for the 700 it's selling for $141. It's only about $30 more for the 800mhz. I have a computer now that runs at 733mhz, pc133 128mb and it still seems slow for me. I might think about overclocking that one, and just get a 933 chip for the new one. What do you think it the best way to go....
