Yep... you change the directory you're client is Folding in it must also be changed in HFM as well.

The UnitInfoCache.dat file is read on startup and written on shutdown. It allows HFM to "remember" where it left off last time. This allows the user to shutdown HFM and have it pick back up where it left off in terms of updating benchmarks and writing units to the WU History Database.

Here's a scenario for a single client...

WU #1 - shutdown HFM (it remembers the current progress of this WU)
WU #2 - folded while HFM was not running
WU #3 - folded while HFM was not running
WU #4 - startup HFM - if #1 WU can be found in the logs HFM will finish parsing the performance data for this WU, update benchmarks, and write to the WU History Database. Now HFM knows where it left off, so naturally anything between WU #1 and WU #4 (now the current WU) will also be parsed and benchmarks/database are updated.

More to ChasR's statement... this UnitInfoCache.dat holds no log file data. If you're seeing a log file in the log viewer then it was just parsed, so there is still a log file available where the client path is pointing. Otherwise, if no logs can be obtained from the path to the client, then the client will be marked Offline and not Stopped.

The Messages (F7) window will tell you what's going on. To see what is reported when a path/logs cannot be accessed. Add a dummy client and point it to a dummy path or a path with no FAH log data. In either case the client will be marked Offline.

Sorry... I'm a bit under the weather, I hope that all made sense. :)

I'm trying to setup F@H on my backup pc. When I follow these directions it has options/questions not addressed?

Disable Highly optimized assembly code and others what do I put for them?

Also if i have alot of free memory should I give more then 2001?

From the guide:
- accept the defaults you get to memory

Setting memory higher than 2001 will not make any difference. THe memory setting is an assignment tool and has no bearing on how much memory the client has access to.

Chas,

I swear the folding board outside asked me about the MPICH when I swapped to the 6.34.

I just swapped to 6.34 on my main rig and it killed my current WU :( lost 22% ), and it also not showing client type and showing credit as 8955 and no ppd.

So far I'm not liking this swap over. It's being a pain in the ***!

The ones I've swapped had no problems. As for what HFM displays ( I believe that is the "it" you're refering to) go to Tools, Download Projects From Stanford, and the data will be added to HFM. Generally it is best to finish WUs with the -oneunit flag before installing a new client or running a new core.

Downloading the projects didn't help and it's been 30 minutes and nothing changed with HFM. The client still says Completed 0 out of 250000 steps (0%)

I have no AV, no firewall(besides it should work on the damnd thing. It downloaded it and engaged why is it sticking at 0% on 4 of the pc's I've done this to?

steps I take:

when the current WU is done I delete the work and queue.dat
delete the .exe link for the 6.30, put the 6.34 in there and rename it to FAH_CPU and run it. It pulls up the client and gets me to this point(nothing else pops up no MPICH, no nothing)

I don't get it.

EDIT: NEVERMIND....After posting this my HFM now says 01% on a a5 p6901 22925.8 ppd 66283 credit.

I don't know if it mattered or not but I right clicked on the 6.34 client and ran as admin(but it shouldn't matter as I am admin and I'm logged in) meh just an observation.

Well you know the old saying..."when in Romewin7...

I'm using windows 95 what are you talking about?

Something is up. All the folding machines we use are w7 x64 and the folding board is rocking out like it should without an issue at all.

Jasons
Mine
Skully(remote)
UPPY (remote)

Are having issues. Mine pulled the a5 and completed %'s, but Jason's hasn't and was stuck on 0% for over 2 hours. I went back to 6.30 due to the loss of points.

If I can get myself registered on pande forums I'll post there, but last time I tried registering it wouldn't let me for some reason.

IDK

I was thinking of doing an renaiming/moving the a3 between WU and then let update of the core take care of itself. or is there a -flag I can add to the shortcut to force an update and then I'll restart it at 99% with the new argument(s)..? I was planning on restarting at 99% anyway to add the -pause flag ..

Are you talking about switching to the new 6.34?

add -oneunit flag it will complete the current unit and not download/start a new one, then you can swap the client and remove the -oneunit flag and fold on. Is this what you were trying to accomplish?

More or less... I was just wondering if there was a flag that forced a check / update of the core, and let the system detect and update you if you actually needed it. I thought the core was designed to automatically update from the assignment server if you needed the new core.

last time it gave me core a3 on the download and a p2684 -bigadv and then a p6900 so I figured Win7 x64 did not need the new core..

Is there a drop in 6.34.exe replacement or do you have to reinstall the whole shebang?

If there is a drop in replacement, where did they put the link? I tried searching for the drop in, but only found GPU clients.

I am just going to use this as an opportunty to set-up and reinstall everything off of the SSD - I'll just run everything from the 1 tb E: drive. I have been meaning to get this done anyway. I'll go so far as to make sure the unzip, install and everything is done off the SSD and on the new drive..

aaahh how the Microsoft Tin Foil Hat slips back on sooo easily...

I keep trying to -configonly to the target line but it will not let me save it. I keep getting an error about file name target name will not work? Any help please?

if you leave out the space between the end of the target path and the -configonly flag, it will not work.

Quick question.

I'm thinking of running this on my home computer instead of having a heater on for the winter, I figure more efficient to crunch numbers and heat up the room at the same time right?

But from what I'm reading it seems like it wouldn't be a good idea to run this specific client for lets say 10 hour stretches at a time, right? This is best for 24/7? Is it still doable in short term?
