Installed the new WD SATA drive, and copied using the disk to disk copy util in the DataLifeguard util.

Then disconnected (completely) the old ide drive, and turned the machine on.

The boot sequence is correct, it finds the Promise PCI controller I had to install (no native SATA support on mobo), and WinXP begins to boot. It does the black screen with the blue box bar, and then it goes to the login screen, but hangs right before displaying my name so I can click on it, and enter my password to login.

Switched back to my old ide drive, and both drives are visible, and working correctly.

Am I stuck having to do a fresh install on the new drive?

Thanks.
