Alright my Logitech Z-2300 are starting to go out, again. After a while of them being on the right channel cuts out, its probably heating up on the output side of the PCB and maving enough to disconnect or barely connect an already cracked solder joint. I've fixed the amp in them several times now, i've had them 10+ years and honestly, i bought them half off at a goodwill used anyway ($10). They've been good, i like them but its time to do something else.

Now while posting this i have already bought something else but it in it self might not be a win either...
I bought one of these: Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 THX as a, as is needs work thing, but judging from the other reviews about this product from this seller (rare) a lot of them just work or need the sub plugged back in on the amp.
still other things could be missing, i felt it was worth the risk and its only $50 shipped from across the country from a place where things regularly "fall off the back of the truck"...

So assuming thats the case, they are too far gone and toast, or i just hate them for some reason, what 2.1 set up would you go for? Or would you do Stereo only with better speakers?

OR

another option is gutting them and building something out of what i have. I'm feeling tinker-ie right now, have tools, solder and heatshrink, time, that could be a thing

What would you do then if thats the case? internal amp? external? something with a mic input and extra USBs?

Just getting ideas, i have no life and its about to be that time where things just dont happen for a while till people thaw out (wimps) so i'll be sitting around with an itch to do something.

I have the Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 THX right now, only speakers I can remember that match the quality and loudness were the old altec lansing 641 speakers. I've went through a bunch of the logitech stuff from cheap to the z906 something I've always sent them back or sold them off shortly after trying them, They have pretty good bass but the speakers themselves pretty much sound the same from 1 model to the next. My only gripe about the Klipsch would be the sub could hit a bit harder, it's not bad but I got used to the hard hitting logitech subs.

I have a set of Vanatoo T0s that I'm happy with. I haven't bothered to add a sub to them yet either (but they have a hookup for them)

Obviously depends on what your budget is

I used to have the 5.1 setup. Man that thing was nice. Unfortunately its amp started to go and I didn’t bother to try to fix it so I sold it.
I had the 4.1 of the same setup. Same problem, gave them away.

I think all of them are now made in China too for that series
