So just got done building my new rig, been out of the tower game for a few years. It will pass both small fft prime95 test with no issues, but I run large or blend and it starts to fail right away. Everything is updated to the newest version and it's not running a overclock yet still just the out of the box settings. My specs are below. Also it will crash trying to load some games, like every time I load Forza it locks the PC up. Let me know what you guys think, I'm a little rusty.

Amd ryzen 7 9700x
Gigabyte b650 aorus elite ax ice
32gb Corsair ddr5 6000mhz
Intel arc b570
Wd 2tb nvme
Corsair 850w psu
Corsair icue link titan 360 Rx LCD water cooler

Try backing your ram back to jedec specs with no EXPO. If that helps it shows its the ram and you can try adding some extra voltage .05v at a time.

Small FFT fits within the CPU cores, so they're ok. Large FFTs will spill over to ram, so it could point to IMC or ram stability.

Just the symptoms remind me of ram issues, When a cpu is failing its instant BSOD or it shuts down. Ram hangs or will make an error.
TBH im a noob anymore as ive been away 20 years, But my new system has taught me the difference in a cpu issue or a Ram issue. Pray its a ram issue man! Those can be fixed with work. CPU issue and you borked imo.

Large fft is something many just stay away from. Typically people use small fft for cpu/cores, and blend for cores and ram.

As was said, if its only failing there, it's likely your ram. Is it running at stock/expo or are you overclocked? If it's stock and you're failing, thats not good.

Did you update your bios to the latest version?

Rams at 4800 that's what my board defaults to, even running at expo it fails. I've tried raising the ram voltage but don't help. And yes my bios is up to date. And like I said I can't pass the blend test either and it locks up loading some games.

To be clear, it's failing tests/games at jedec speeds too? If so, I'd rma the ram assuming they are in the right slots (Should be a2/b2 -see manual).

I was thinking the ram was faulty also from my previous experience but just wanted to confirm what I thought. And yeah I put them in the slots the mb said to use first, a2/b2

Yeah, if you don't have another system to test them in. I'd rma as well.

For giggles, is the kit in the memory qvl list?

On the package it says it's amd Expo certified, it was part of a package deal at microcenter so I'd hope they'd pair stuff together that's right.

Just looked at the qvl list and those sticks that they had in the combo deal weren't on there. They do have some in stock that are, they're $40 more so I hope they let me switch them out to those sticks, I'll find out tomorrow

With the ram at JEDEC specs can you load memtest86 (onto a flash drive or whatever) and see if it throws errors?

Personally id just return them and get some G-Skill sticks and not bang your head against the wall trying to make faulty sticks work.
Failing at Jedec speeds is a perfectly good reason to return them and thay shouldnt blink an eye at it.

I have memtest just haven't put it on a drive yet.
Post magically merged:

My plans to bring them back and get the ones that are on the qvl list

Agreed in that regard, I guess it was more out of curiosity if you came in and told them that it failed a dedicated memory diagnostic as well, but would request one on the qvl as well

Finding QVL ram is hard imo, for me if it just says its Expo rated i feel good to go.
My mobo runs a B650 chipset also and seems forgiving on ram type.
Ive been partial to TeamGroup T-Create sticks. Its not on my my mobos QVL list either.
Just info to pass on if you cant find QVL approved ram at Micro center

Just a random thought, I'm starting to wonder if it's my SSD. I heard the Western digital drives cause cause crashes and issues in win11. I guess if you update the firmware on them they work better but guess who forgot that, this guy. Just did a fresh install of Windows and now I can't even get fully booted up B4 it locks up and blue screens. I'm also gonna pickup a Samsung evo 990 drive tomorrow and just kill 2 birds with 1 stone.

have you tried running only 1 stick at a time and see if one may be the culprit?
Plus you can never have too much drive space if that's not the issue.

Well new ram and ssd and solid as can be. But now on a fresh install my CPU temps are reading high.vvin hwinfo64 my CPU (tctl/tdie) is reading over 60c non stop, that's 20c higher than before, but core temps are in the lower to mid 30's. And IDK why but the CPU is running at about 5ghz at all times with a core voltage of 1.3+. What's going on here. I even tried loading the optimized defaults in the bios.
