Back in Iowa :( Come on Gators, Get up and Go!
I am about to buy my first set of watercooling supplies to hopefully watercool (after my TDY). I will return from my TDY on Feb 13th and will buy everything then. This is what I am thinking about

DangerDen RBX 52.95
DangerDen Dual 5.25 Res 32.70
Hydor L30 Pump 50.00
Chevette Heatercore ?????
(2) Fan Shrouds $10 each
1/2 tubing local h/w store CHEAP!!!
(2) 120mm fans have them already

What problems do any of you see out there? Am I getting screwed on prices?

Also, WHAT THE HELL is that third connector on the RBX do? How do I connect it into the system?

Sorry for the NOOB questions...but this is a first for me and I do not want to screw it up

Prices look ok to me but i'm in the uk so don't take my word for it.

I'd go with better tubing personally as cheap stuff may kink easily.

RBX has 3 hose connections one in and two out the in one is in the middle and the two out ones are connected via a y connector.

Hope it makes sense.
Goog luck.

Ok I just read the Y connector thing on the DangerDen website...it comes with one...

Is the 1/2" of the pump, res, heatercore (I believe a chevette heatercore is 1/2"), and RBX Inside Diameter or Outside Diameter?

I didn't see this any where...

Thanks for any input

You might be paying a little too much for the Hydor, I'm not sure.

Also, make sure you get clearflex tubing, not vinyl...it makes a tremendous difference, trust me! It's only $0.65 a foot at www.mcmaster.com - look on page 85 under PVC Chemical tubing (not Tygon) and get the 1/8" Wall 1/2" ID 3/4" OD chemical PVC tubing. Worth every cent. :)

the tubing will be 1/2" ID the components need to be 1/2" OD since the tubing need to slip over the outer diameter of the components. Also buy some hose clamps to prevent leaks.

The RBX will work with 1/2" ID tubing, trust us.

Get the 1/2" ID 1/8" wall and 5/8" OD Clearflex 60. This over vinyl tubing will make your life much easier.

Your components should have 1/2" OD barbs on them, so your 1/2" ID tubing fits over them. Use some hose clamps or zipties to secure them on.

It depends where you get the HC from, if you get it from www.dtekcustoms.com it should have the perfect barbs that you need on it. Where are you getting it from? A link will help us.

Also, is there any specific reason you want a RES instead of a T-Line? Bleeding will be much faster with a res, but they just take alot of room.

If you go with the bay res get the dual one as you stated, the single on is supossedly not good because its shallow.

As a tubing tip, I bought this tank-vacuum kit at my local Petsmart, it came with some plastic junk, and 20ft of tubing for under $10. I have used ClearFLEX, and this stuff is just as good, if not better than ClearFLEX. Been running it in my system for a good 1/2 year now. :)

nope... the tube size will be 5/8" and 3/4"

you have to cut off the front end of the tube..

and you can use a 1/2 Tygon tube connect to 5/8" HeaterCore tube... just boil the tygon tube for 10 sec and it will go on nicely

and also... RBX is a bit restrictive block... you might want to use more powerful pump like danner mag 3 or eheim 1250.,....

yeah thats how big the chevettes pipes are, but if you heat up the tube, you should be able to get it onto the pipes, and then you won't have to mess around with buying and attaching barbs.

About the RBX barbs - they mean 1/2" OD if you select 1/2". I wish it were bigger too, but that's life. :)

How when the L30 puts out 320Gph compared to the Eheim 1250's 317Gph??
What matters most in a system like this isn't the pump's GPH rating as much as the pump's head. A Danner Mag 3 puts out about 10 feet of head (meaning it can pump straight up 10 feet) while the Hydor L30 puts out 6.25ft of head. As you can see, a pump like the Mag 3 creates a lot more pressure, which is very helpful with restrictive waterblocks.

FYI the Eheim 1250 has 6' 7" head.

The L30 should be fine, i run it on a WW which is similar to the RBX. IF you have the money ide go for the 1250, as it has a better reputation.

Go look at the HC's at www.dtekcustoms.com , the unpainted one. That is the heatcore your getting at the auto store, just with 1/2" OD barbs already on it. If you can get the one from the store to work, as many people have, then great.

Good luck man!
