Hello to all out there in overclock land, this is my first post although I have been reading a lot of interesting threads and been able to see a bunch of wicked WC set-ups! I recently did a mild upgrade on my system as I took a break from computers 2 years ago. My system is as follows:

Case: Ultra Aluminus
PSU: 650tx Corsair
Mobo: DFI Lan Party 790fx M2RS
CPU: AMD 5000+ BE @ 3.2ghz & 1.39vcore
RAM: Mushkin 4gb DDR-800
Cooling: Tuniq 120 tower
HDD: WD 160, 500, 750gb
GPU: EVGA GTX 260 SC @ 666/1305/1111
and two 120mm case fans

Now my question is I am currently running about 31*C at idle and 48*-56*c after an intense Crysis campaign! So as I view certain members' WC set-ups such as Killa & Sli40sx I am inspired to branch out and get my rig finalized... I dont know if I "need" to add the GPU in the loop but I would definitely like the ability to add one (or 2) if such an occasion arose . I don't game every day and I have been hooked on Crysis lately, just got this wonderful vid card, but the fans are killing me! I have this computer in my theater so I need silence...:screwy: So I have been shopping at performance pc's & frozen cpu and have come up with what I believe to be a great start. Basically I'm wondering if the products I picked out are over kill, not enough, or just right for the present & future goals. It is worth mentioning that I do plan to make the jump over to Intel at the end of the year, possibly a core i7 so I would like to make sure that it will be able to contain that wild animal as well. Here it goes, sorry for the long diatribe...:bang head:bang head

D-Tek Fuzion V2 cpu block with 1/2" compression nozzles
ThermalTake p500 water Pump
Swiftech MCR220 Rad
EK 150Res that kick a** cylinder res!
Feser Red UV tubing
Xigamtek 120mm fans x2, the orange blades w/ white LEDs
and a UV light for what I think good looks :screwy:

So what say you ladies & gents?! I find that to be a decent set-up. Please let me know of any suggestions you all might have. I'd like to see how much further I can take this AMD 5000+... Thanks in advance!

Cheers,
Joe

Think thats pretty good, I think the pump you chose is just a rebranded Laing pump, but don't feel like checking on anything ThermalTake. I just stay away.

For a CPU loop it's fine.

i doubt u going to take that CPU much higher even with W/C installed , there are still gonna be benefits , and that block can be reused later on , i also would get this instead of the pump you chose its low end model but its still beats anything ThermalTake has http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835108063 Swiftech MCP350

also if you wish to add the gpu to the loop in the future, look at the triple radiator, it should handle a dual with a gpu very well.

those fans are expensive if i recall correctly about 12-15 bucks and that price doenst bring any more performance , just get some yateloons.

Thanks for the suggestion on pumps. I remember reading various things that were bad in Thermaltakes products. Is that swiftech pump, MCP350, going to be enough for a possible gpu upgrade in the future? Also I would be making the switch to a 920 or 940 core i7 around x-mas of this year, so the pump would need to be adequate for the addition of extra heat from 4 cores. I noticed the MCP 355 for only a few bucks more so I can settle on that if need be. I also noticed recommendations of an EK DD x-top for the pump which I have added to the shopping list. Thanks again you guys. BTW how important are compression fittings vs. plain barbs with worm clamps? I will update as purchases are made and of course the build if anyone is interested. I have been looking at the Ultra Aluminus and its going to be tight. Im going to have to be handy if I am going to keep everything internal. Maybe its possible maybe not. We shall see! Cheers

Well i7 is whole another story , i still recommend u get a triple rad , but once u get the i7 u might want to add another dual rad for your card , right now untill xmas the triple will hold you up well on your current setup and its not much more expensive then dual so its real easy to justify , alot of people will suggest running 2 loops but i think one loop will suffice especially with adequate raddage , but u will have to get more powerful pump , this is my suggestion http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835108082

i use newegg for reference but u can find it at alot of online retailers some specialized ones like sidewinder computers, jab tech , petra shop.

also get the 920 not 940 :)

^^ actually the MCP355 with XSPC res top has better flow then the MCP655.

either pump will handle anything you need regardless of system.

compression or barbs work good but i don't like paying gobs of money for looks. so barbs and clamps get my vote.

i agree on fans as well no sense in paying 15 for a fan when a 3 yate loon is just as good.

Again thanks a bunch guys. I am soooo ready to push check out, just need a few more pennies out of the couch! Funny enough I have been fooling around with the wish-list functions at the egg & performance-pcs & fronzencpu:bang head:bang head Thanks again. MCP 355 & top it is! Cheers

Good choice with the MCP355.

I generally buy my pump from Newegg, and then get the top from one of the water-cooling online stores. Conundrum has posted some excellent info with the names of stores. I've found Frozen CPU to be good to deal with, but sometimes more expensive than places like Jab-Tech and Sidewinder PCs. Petra's Tech is always my first choice, but Performance PCs is known for having great inventory of products. Part of where you buy also depends on where you live ... as shipping can add up.

Good Luck with your project!
