The underground tank is a good idea. Maby I'll go that route. Thanks for the info guys.
I still want to experiment with my idea just to see if it will work. I'm going to set it up and run it for an hour and measure water usage.

You would have a loop starting at the softner tank, or somewhere after it, running to the water block and ending at the well head.

here is my varation on my idea
just have a pretty big water resvoir coming of your main line
then run a radator threw it closed cell
it will transfer the heat from your water to its water
and that wont make your house ineffishent if you put it before teh hot water heater
becuase youll be pre heating the water
