First off: Hello, and thanks for peeking in here, and thanks even more for answering ;)

I've been a reader since early 2006, when I decided to OC a 805D...

I didn't get very far, but I wasn't too serious about it either ;)

At any rate, I recently got an E8400 for a system I'm building for my father, and I decided to OC it... just for fun, of course (Well, and for his benefit, I guess).

I have a few questions, but until I get home I'll ask just one:

I read about the VID alot, see values of 0.95 to 1.25, and that generally lower = better, and that it basically dictates how high you can go.

Is there a way to find out the VID? Is it the voltage reading in CPUz for example?

Edit:
Wanted to add, I read Vdroop a few times aswell, what's that all about?

Good morning :) The vid is shown in Core Temp. lower is supposed to be better, but the vid varies even from bios to bios. Link is below.

Vdroop is where the voltage drops when your cpu is placed uder load. This was designed into the chipset by Intel. The amount of Vdroop varies from board to board and can be a headache when it comes to OCing. Many boards have Vdroop mods to lessen or eliminate it. Some BIOS's have setting that eliminate it to varying degrees of success.
