hello all, im new to this overclocking lark and im rather enjoying it(not fryed anything yet :D )

now then, i have overclocked my cpu and my video card, my question is how do i overclock my ram?

i read something about loosening the timings, whats that all about?

i have samsung ddr333 ram with a sticker on the side that says:

korea 0343 c
pc2700u-25331-b2
m368l6423dtm-cb3
512mb ddr pc2700 cl2.5

thanks in advance for any replys :)

You overclock the ram by increasing the FSB. If you're overclocking the CPU by increasing FSB you're overclocking the ram already.

Loosing timing will help you overclock higher.

i have a p4 3.2ghz 800fsb cpu with a coolermaster aero 7 h/s and fan

i can clock my fsb to about 230ish(200 standard) and it seems quite stable and runs at about 46 under load, what effect would loosening my timings have on my ability to change the fsb and would i be at more risk of frying my cpu?

the thing is im not really bothered about frying the ram as im getting some more soon anyway, my cpu on the other hand is to expensive to risk

oh and i forgot to ask, how do i change the timings on my ram?

In the bios there will be setting of ram timings under advanced chipset along with you cpu fsb and mult., etc.

They are labled Cas, Ras, tRcd, tRas in the bios. making the timings larger (i.e Cas 2 ram move up to cas 2.5.)

it appears these settings are locked out :(

is there anyway to change them without buying a new mobo?

also if i can/could change them, what should i change them to?
