THE MASSIVE online beast called Newegg plans to start a European operation, a former. It may call it EUegg.

It thinks that there is a money to be made in the super differentiated market called Europe and it is probably right. It won't be easy to conquer the 40 language-market but other have managed before it.

The biggest problem is that such a move will put a lot of people out of business especially the smaller players. Newegg buys incredible volumes and gets great prices.

We got the story confirmed by very high ranked officers of the egg company but the final decision is yet to be made. It will happen, he says, it is only a question when.

Funnily enough we've heard this one before. µ

Rejoice European comrades!

I'm very happy to hear this for all of our European friends! It has been sorely needed.

I doubt they could outcompete local places which are very comparable in price considering the VAT. Shipping is more problematic because of the different national services. I'm much more comfortable dealing with an online retailer who has a huge store in the city since service will be better.
