No longer works

I had a network with 2 xp pro machines. One got a virus so i reformated both pc's and started over. Now when I run the setup wizzard and put them both in the same workgroup I keep getting the error that work group is not accessable. It worked just fine before the virus. I am running a Dlink 704 router. Dont know what to do.

dont use the wiazrd, just give them the same workgroups, give them rights to each other and that should work how are the yconnected ?directly ? HUB ? switch ?
