no P3 on BH6?

Just as i was about to purchase a BH6 motherboard, new case, P3 processor, phat fan and a socket -> slot1 converter i read this post...
I was undet the impression BH6 could handle coppermines, now i'll have to reconsider!

that's pretty scary, innit? Like he said, 1.1 is your best bet. Not only does it support Coppermine, it also supports 1/4 PCI, which is kinda-crucial for running it as a BX-133 monster. The 1.02, far as I know, only supports 1/3 PCI. I can live with 2/3 AGP on 133MHz, a GeForce takes that pretty well. But 1/3 PCI on 133MHz is a bit heavy on most of my PCI cards, I fear :eek:).

To get a 1.0x board to do Coppermine without a fault (or rather, be sure about it: Many 1.0x boards work just fine, from all I read), you'd need a slocket that has its own power. Such a beast exists, but it is a heavy $49 for the version without processor: http://www.powerleap.com/PL-iP3/order.htm

Is that really the ONLY adapter capable of supplying the correct voltage for the coppermines?
 
As I understand it, Wunder, the issue is not voltage (the BH6 can supply 1.6V fine), but ampage.

Now, I know that the IWill Slocket-II has its own VRM on board, but still needs the mobo to supply 1.6V VCore. And I believe the Abit SlotKet-iii works along the same lines.
Which, truthfully, confused me a bit. If these two converters need the motherboard to supply correct voltage and ampage, then what do they have the VRM for? Maybe just to make sure the power is "smooth" enough for a Coppermine?

I think id better try and run a faster processor in my old mobo instead.
 
I don't know about the P-III, but I had a coppermine Celeron on a BH6 board using an Abit slotket and it worked fine.
 
The reason that most slockets have their own voltage regulators is becasue the majority of those 370 pins are extra voltage and ground lines that the slot doesn't have.
 
I'm currently running my p3 700 on a bh6 rev 1.1 at 133 fsb without issue.
gotta love it, however it wont run stable on my be6 II v2 at 133 odd now don't you think.
