can anyone suggest a good northbridge cooler, i am thinking about replacing my stock fan/stock heatsink, if you can even call it that. would a blue orb fit? any other suggestions? any way to check the temps through a program on this mobo? thanks a lot. oh and is this really necessicary if the stock fan is still working?

not sure if a blue orb will fit or not but I already have one on order so I guess I'll find out... As for if its necessary not really but it may cut a few extra degrees and thats what im after as for checking temps you can use either smart guardian that came with the mobo or mbm5

you inspired me lastnight, and I cut a hole and mounted a 60mm Sunon fan in my left sidecase,it's directly over the cpu and northbridge chipset, and it dropped the northbridge and cpu temps.
the cpu temp dropped by about 2c and the nb is lower, but that temp varies ,,,,but I am getting around 22c now average for the NB.actually, looking at it(northbridge),the temp seems to be stabilized more,it used to jump around alot.

I used sensor #3 "boardsensor"..... "SIS950/ITE8705F-3"
and I used a "bi-metal" 3 1/4" hole saw to cut the hole.3 1/4" works perfect for a 60mm fan.

and I know you probably looked here but here it is just in case you did'nt. :)

I noticed something else the last couple days, besides the temps goind down a little,

but after adding this 60mm fan facing right over the cpu fan,

my 7k rpm delta hsf now runs between 7300 and 7500 rpm's !
pretty cool! huh!?!?
it always ran at 7000 to no more than 7200 before I put the extra fan in .. :)

Ive been told in the cooling section that on the dragon + that the 3rd temp sensor is a phantom signal and judging from the temps that it has been telling me and as much as it moves I believe it. (anywhere from 25 C to 60 C +) with a blue orb

Hiya CrazyMan

i wanted to know as how did u get to show ur Fan's RPM on MBM5.

mine shows 0.

do you have the dragon+ ?

I put the power and ground for my cpu cooler dirctly to the ps,but I put the yellow sensor wire to the "CPUFAN1" plug.

and I turned "ON" FOC in the bios.

and for the hdd fan I put it's yellow sensor wire to "CHAFAN1" plug, and you have to tell mbm5 what sensor to use for the fan speeds.
look here and I could only get fans 1 & 2 to work in mbm.
