Yea... its weird. first off, my system specs.

Athlon XP 2600+ barton
DFI Infinity NF ultra
1x512 mb corsair xmspc3200xlpt
Ati Radeon 9000 128 mb
Antec Truepower 380
Whole helluva lot of needless fans.

this built is a temp one. to tide me over untill 939 prices, 90nm athlon 64 and pci express hits the athlon 64 market. I baught the memory because i wanted tight ddr 400 that had the flexability to run ddr 500. i asusme that amd will not jump ship to ddr 2 immediately and we will still see ddr boards with pci express.

in any event... this machine is actully running stock right now. 166x11.5. stock voltage, stock spd memory timings 2-2-2-11 at 166 and the gpu is also stock... the psu is a good one and the windows install i have pressently, I think, is ok.
soooooo I get my pc up and running, and after like a day. it just up and locks up.... its not getting too hot... 45º on stock cooling with all my case fans on low, my cpu fan on high *craptacular fan*
Ill go into ffxi and play for HOURS. log out. go to bed. set up some torrents, go to work, come home, play ff or even just surf the web and bang, it will up and freeze for no reason.. no load or anything. somtimes in ffxi, my monitor just goes black and my computer dies.. have to shut it off, boots right up just fine.

so uhhh. i dont know what to blame this on really. everything is running stock and should not have issues. come to think of it, this didnt start happening untill i installed the corsair memory... i have it set to 2.7 volts.. but its sooooo... weird. my last micron pc 2700 256 meg didnt do this. is there a chance its ram related? i would be pretty dissappointed.

i didnt reset the cmos for the new ram, but i did go into the bios and make all the changes.

its weird. this machien prime tested stable up to 190 mhz *200 too high for locked chip on stock cooling, needs 1.85v T_T*

just... damn weird.

I agree, shouldn't be happening. Have you looked at what voltage variations you're getting? Would suggest bumping both the memory and cpu up 0.1V to see if that helps. Don't have a good reason for the suggestion other than potential voltage variations that might be happening. :attn:

Yes I would try to up the vdimm.. you say your putting 2.7 to it.. and if THIS is your ram the default vdimm should be 2.75... So at 2.7 your undervolting it a little..

Hope that helps..

ah, ****, your right ha ha. well, i set the volts teo 2.8 to see if it will be stable.. im kind of worried, the voltages on this board seem to spike quite a bit. the memory spikes to 2.86 volts somtimes and the cpu anywhere from 1.64-1.68... thats quite a range and im a little concerned.... but ill see. seemingly, 1.8 volts is enoughf ro 2300 mhz on this barton though, it gets retardedly hot, but its stable ;)

Ah well. in a few days ill know if it really is. if it dies again, time to get really dirty and find out wth is wrong.
