I read through the front page stuff on the nVidia nForce chipset and I can't say I am terribly interested.... is anyone else? Here's why:

1. So far, only 1 proto board is full ATX. The rest are microATX.

2. nVidia, to this point, has made video card chipsets. I don't particularly trust them with the backbone of the computer, at least not just yet. This could change, however.

3. Via really won me over with the KT133A. I still believe in them, I am not sure many people around here do, though. After the MSI K7T266 fiasco, I don't know how many manufacturers are still planning KT266 boards but I am going to wait for another KT266 board or two before I pass VIA over for my next box.

4. Integrated graphics - yeah, it's a GeForce2 core, but seriously.... until nVidia puts out a barebones chipset that passes on all the integrated stuff (at least video) it tells me that they're not gearing towards what I want.

Any other opinions on this? I think it's an interesting topic.....

and a final message to Via.... "This has the potential to be your demise, you BETTER respond, and respond WELL"

No

1: Intg. grfix really eats up the CPU usage.
2: I dont think the performance is going to be as good as some may think.
3: Price, once it comes out, the price will be not worth the performance.

My $.02

After reading several articles about this new architecture from Nvidia, I guess we will have an interesting fall to say the least.

The specs looks very good, and they already have working samples, even in the micro atx form which is harder to make than the regular atx. The integrated graphics processor looks good to me, and it will not be eating up any more cpu cycles than just regular GF2mx vid card.

Integrated sound with specs far better than current sound blasters..what can I say ???

Memory bandwidt even better than dual channel rambus? sounds good dosent it?

Just ONE driver for the mobo!

If this nforce thing actually works without problems soon as next fall both Nvidia and AMD will be doing FINE.

Dual channel Rambus is definitely an awesome memory system... but the P4 still sucks because of the implementation.... It's all in the implementation.... Theoretical and actual performance are two things that are different 99% of the time. I'll believe it when I see it. It's really hard for me to believe that nVidia is going to put out something groundshaking on their first try in a certain market niche.
