(modified) well i got through the problem-installed dx8 for 2k insted of the accidental install of dx8 for NT, helps but i still have a problem- i can get in to 3dappz/games but after awhile it locks up. My first thought was heat so i installed a Vantec 486cpu coolerfan on to the cards heatsink-still got lockups-so i took one of my exhaust fans out and mounted it where it sets directly in front of the video card and the HS-blowing out the back-IT STILL LOCKS UP-is my card just not good enough?? I dont think that this is the issue b/c i used to play UT for hours on my old nvidia TNT2 8meg card-with NO fan on it??? what gives

Riva 11.01 drivers from nvidia-do i need different ones

Even though nVidia states that their newer drivers "are good for TNT through GF2 GTS," I think they're lying.
I suggest finding Detonator 3 drivers. The only problem with them is that they improve D3D performance dramatically---yet murder OpenGL performance. In other words, they work great for UT. If you can run Q3 in D3D, you're OK.

Other people didn't experience this with their TNT's, so maybe I'm just "lucky." You can steal some bits and pieces from OTHER Det 3 drivers, and get both good D3D and OpenGL performance, but that didn't work for me. Good luck!

I think ill do that-but what is a good driver for for D3D, also what is a good driver for OpenGL- that way i can pick and choose the different files to create a good custom driver
