cool it doesn't matter to me
it takes me pretty much 1+day's to make 1 wu but thiers a lot of points
besides all a body needs is 1 ticket hahahahahaa

Also, I'm highly considering making adjustments for those under a 100pts/WU average, which was suggested by a participant a few weeks ago. Take those participants' points during the contest, divide by 100, and round up. That would be their new entries number.

I think this might possibly be a good rule for future contests, but the rules at the beginning of the contest was one WU one entry. To change it now, even tho someone might have exploited a loop-hole, or non-stated spirit of the rules.... ehh...

After all, it all boils down to luck of the draw... Now I just hope that my tiny few entries will grab me that processor. I mean come on man, I don't have an addiction.... I can quit folding any time I want. What do you mean, I've refreshed the stats page more times than I blink? Thats crazy man, Its just a bookmark it doesnt mean anything. No, you cant use that computer to surf the internet. It's folding and it might slow it down.

No stop that! Ctrl-c Kills it MAN!!!

You're screwing it up!

What are you all doing in my computer room?

Whats an intervention? Do What????

Hold on, No I, But, I.........

Hehe. I'm kicking myself for powering down my box while a big storm blew through. When I started it back up it started the wu over again. This winblows smp client is killing me...

We had a good sized lightning storm blow through just an hour or so ago. Shut down all three machines just to be safe. Kept telling myself it wasn't worth the chance of loosing a machine, Or even worse all of them. Luckily tho, they are all running ubuntu/xubuntu natively and started back up with no problems.

No, not worth loosing ANY machines.

and if you don't win THIS one, THIS time, WE WILL be having future contests thru the rest of the year.

I like the way you are talking WarriorII (this gives me a reason to give myself as why I fold as much as I can and have been devising plans to borg a few computers here and there)

Good Luck to all in the contest as I will not see who wins for at least a day when I have to travel to Ohio

I do. It doesn't affect me but it's bad form to be changing the rules in the middle of a contest. Once the contest has started I don't think you should be changing how you said things were going to be done.

Ok, I kinda felt the same way too... that's why I didn't commit to doing so, and I even hesitated a few times to post it... but such a rule will be instituted in the future. It's just too easy for folks to block IPs and get small WUs to run up their total given the current WU mix. Something I admittedly didn't look at before starting the contest.

Again, this would have effected four users... but I will maintain what was stated at the outset of this contest. Everyone will be credited as per Stanford stats.

Thank you all for commenting... no one will be shorted.
 <- have a few on me. :)

That's the name of the game... but, there are very few participants with very low points/WU averages... meaning, most are above 100pts/WU. So they didn't overly benefit from the mass of 15pt WUs currently available.

Also, I'm highly considering making adjustments for those under a 100pts/WU average, which was suggested by a participant a few weeks ago. Take those participants' points during the contest, divide by 100, and round up. That would be their new entries number.

This will only effect a handful of participants, and I will notify those participants whom are having their entries adjusted. I think this is the only fair way to balance those entries vs. the majority of others whose averages are much higher.

Does anyone have a problem with this?

Just divide evryones points by 100 and round up...make it the same for all...:bang head

I wouldn't change the rules just because some people worked hard to play by them and get an advantage, you'll end up making someone cranky if the rules are changed at the end. Next time you can have a chance to make it different.

It is still the luck of the draw so there are no guarentees :).

If they did it by blocking ports, they cheated and should be excluded anyway, if not this time then the next time.

You guys keep saying this, but the point was that these people who took advantage of the "loop-hole" increased their chances in said draw while sending in a pile of low science value WUs on rigs that are fully capable of producing proper valued WUs. I had thought about running small WUs to increase my odds, but I decided THAT WOULD BE BAD FORM. Now I don't really care if those entrants scores are adjusted, but I will admittedly be pretty upset if one of those people win due to their methods of manipulating the odds.

Just my thoughts on it.

Yeah, that would be a bit of a downer. I know damn well my computer wasn't going to be churning out WUs like a quad or anywhere near it, but I'd rather see the more useful WUs being worked on than someone just trying to win a quad. *shrugs* Contest or not, we're still folding for science at the end of the day. Let's give 'em the WUs they want us to give 'em.

I'm running just over 200 pts/WU if I did my math right. I have many of my systems running one client per core with small memory selected. I have never tried to block ports or otherwise manipulate what WU's I get.

I also think changing the rules in the middle of a contest is a bad idea. Change them for future contests, sure, but in the middle of a contest is just bad form.

Hope everyone has all their clients up and running.

Sadly, I do not :( I sold one rig and had to take some parts from another. Seems my friends that were borging for me can't seem to remember to keep the client open, and I'm getting tired of having to remind them. Sad day, sad day indeed.

I turned in remaining WU's this AM.

Congratz!!!
& Thank you for ALL the Folding that was accomplished for T32 by everyone.

How much time is left?

All three of my machines are folding away as we speak. Lost one WU this morning. I woke up this morning and my main machine (this one) was unresponsive. Rebooted and it started over from 0%.

100 points average per WU is one thing and that has been discussed to its conclusion for this contest.
However I agree with ChasR that if someone has obviously cheated that is something quite different (i.e. random project assignment makes it just about impossible to get dozens of 15 point projects in a row without cheating).
And by the way it is very easy to cheat. It takes seconds with most firewalls or routers.

For future contests one option is a method that is based on points but not directly. The idea would be to shrink the difference between someone just participating versus a supra folder.
e.g. 1000PPD average over the contest would get 4x as many chances to win as someone that is 100PPD.

For this contest, I think has been a great success - thank you harlam357!
Good luck to everyone for the draw!
