Those issues are with the Vertex 2 series Jmytra, no? Does it apply to an unreleased unit as well?

Ok I've read the other thread Jmtyra, what other choices are there than OCZ tho? I dont see anyone else bringing out anything like these speeds for a grabable price.
After their actions tho, I sure agree with people who are going to boycott them.

I went through the tweaks & managed to boost my performance some

Im also wondering if this new drive will be faster or as fast as the revo PCI card. Thats is stilll very expensive in the UK, & past my budget.

Personally I use a Crucial SSD. The OCZ one may work for you; the thread was to raise awareness regarding their issues. Hopefully there won't be any issues with your purchase.

Found a buyers guide here that looks interesting. They may have more info regarding the decision to purchase a SSD.

Well it seems OCZ have done a massive doozy again from what Ive read on another forum.

OCZ were expecting 14,000 controllers and only recieved 3000 controllers for their whole worldwide allocation.

This means only 1/5th of the expected stock is available resulting in the UK only been allocated 90 of each drive, yes 90 for the whole of the UK

Can you believe it.

Look at the G-Skill Phoenix Pro Series..

Decent quality from what I have read, and comparable pricing. I am not sure what the current ones are using for chips though..

OCZ just has a history of screwing up, and maybe that wouldn't be the case if they had better management

OP, I doubt you'd really see any difference going from a Vertex 2 to 3. Yeah, it'll boot a few seconds faster, but you're not likely to notice any real world difference. I'd run that old drive until it dies, then go with whatever Intel's latest model is at the time.

What does that have to do with controllers/yields? (upper management)

Chief Operations Officer (COO)
–the COO looks after issues related to marketing, sales, production and personnel. More hands-on than the CEO, the COO looks after day-to-day activities while providing feedback to the CEO.

As in response to the OP's latest post and OCZ's recent 25nm stealth "upgrade"... seems to me they have some mismanagement issues that need to be dealt with. ----->JMO

Thanks for the clarification aphellyon... :)

Im certain though that this was something that couldnt have been prevented and wasnt known about until it was too late. I dont think production issues are cause for a CEO's head.

lol, yea, fair enough... I usually look to assign blame to the management level... though upper management is a stretch. I doubt they're losing any money over the nand fiasco (angry enthusiasts probably won't make the slightest dent in their bottom line)... and the delayed shipping of the latest controllers could have been due to any number of things.

I see this as very unprofessional, the whole SSD industry is very cagey. High prices but very high failure rates. OCZ business skills, seem to fit in quite well with all this.

Saying all that, in 3 months my Vertex has not 1nce let me down & improved my experience on PC's 10 fold, specially with gaming even tho it cost an arm & a leg.

I refuse to go Intel as they are way over priced imo. Ill probably wait on Corsair's next generation.

I recently purchased a 2tb external WD Mybook USB 3.0 for back up & the speeds are pretty decent. Faster I am told than Sata 6gb's drives.

Things like this happen. Are they preventable? Maybe. Thing is nobody here knows that. Passing judgement having zero information on the logistics of this controller hiccup is premature at best IMHO.

I dont understand your last comment about the Mybook. Mechanical HDD's are not limited by the SATA2 bandwidth in the first place, so moving it to SATA3 wouldnt really help except MAYBE in burst speed. Whoever told you that is straight off the mark.

Were have to agree to disagree on the OCZ I think Earth.

The USB 3.0 external drives are faster than SATA 6gbs internal drives apparently is what I was saying, not that I really have much of a clue so wont try & debate it.
