now.. if someone really wanted to get to buisness why not run the "no-nonsence" text only version?? wouldn't that be faster..or?

Some people like looking at pretty pictures. I don't like to deal w/ some of the problems that crop up when using the GUI client, so I run text-only. Folds faster too, I think.

now.. I haven't used the text-only version.. can you still log on with a name and all of that??

anyone know which one is faster// completes WU's faster??

Others have done testing on this and the consensus seems to be that they are about the same speed. I prefer the gui because it is easy to setup and has been reliable for me, a few little bumps in the road but nothing major. One thing I noticed is you need to disable the screen saver it installs, that does seem to slow things down when it kicks in. Now install it and get folding :) .

not telling until I get in the top 100 --- can't let you guys get prepared for my major hop..

i'm trying to get on TEN machines.. then boom.

Yeah, you can set up the text-only client w/ your nick and team number. It also asks you if you're behind a firewall, and wether or not you want it to ask you before sending/recieving data.

They fold at about the same speed, but there are fewer problems related to the command line client. I use them both but on the main rig I use the GUI client. It stays out of the way and doesn't give me any grief that way, and it runs well on my hardware. It just doesn't run well on all hardware.

If you get 10 machines going you won't be able to hide it for very long. ;)
