I wouldnt doubt that this has been asked before but... I've spent the last hour looking for a link confirming the need for "special" coding to the game for FX line of cards.

Check the links to the shader day articles in the first post. Long story short, it's true. Nvidia has some weird proprietary method you can code for on the geforceFX line. It's supposed to make games run faster but is not mandatory. This is the reason Valve cites for spending 5x more time writing nvidia code than ATI code.

Yea, right after the source leak, we were all maybe a little overly paranoid about HL2 not coming out... ever. Afraid that we'd never see our "the precious."

Alright here is the news..

No BFD really. Long story short XT owners waiting for HL2 get the Valve Premier Pack from STEAM. Which includes the games Half-Life, Opposing Force, Counter Strike, Team Fortress Classic, Deathmatch Classic, and Ricochet. It's pretty cool of Valve and ATI but meh.

good for me as i have none of the origanl Half-life or mods. But i dont have enough bling bling to buy a new card for a while and hopefully by christmas itlll be out so itll be too late but id be happy if it came out tomorrow and i miseed out on the free HL2 itself as long as it was out TOMRROW ...
