Ok I was given roughly half a system (e6600, Asus p5k-sli deluxe and a stacker case).

I bought a 9800gtx+, Xigmatek 1283 with bolt through kit and repurposed the Corsair 650t I already had.

First memory I bought was bad (Corsair XMS2 4 (2x2gb) PC6400 kit.

Replaced with some OCZ PC6400 which passed Prime95 without issue in safe mode.

Rebooted the machine, updated/installed all drivers and then left it for he night.

Last night, I got home and decided to make sure all updates were in place prior to anything else at which point i noticed that the mouse wasnt working..

hmmm I thought, and then noticed that neither was the KB nor was there any disk activity.

I spent the rest of the night trying to pin down an issue that leaves nothing in Event viewer, log files or minidumps. The machine just stops randomly but never gives a BSOD.

Any ideas of what to try? the PSU is a known good, the memory passed Prime95, Im thinking it is the newest Nvidia Drivers but I have zero info to base this off of.

The CPU according to BIOS is only at about 27c right after reboot from a lockup, the MB temp shows as 29c.

Casewise this is housed in a Rocketfish

Delta 120x38 intake at the front
Xigmatek 1283 with a 120mm delta blowing towards the top of the case through the HS
Stock Rocketfish (lian li 120 for exhaust on rear)
2x 60mmx38 fans at top rear blowing out grating for upper exhaust
120x38 Delta blowing out for blowhole on top of case

Cooling shouldnt be an issue as this is almost the same setup as the other rocketfish with a 939 setup in it.

any suggestions short of nuking from orbit, I hate trying to pin down a phantom issue and this is driving me nuts.

FYI: ALL STOCK/default SETTINGS, No OC.

what nvidia card do you have? I had an issue with an nvidia 7300 video card and my vista 32 bit at work, would lock then blue screen intermittently.

Unplug all the power connectors and plug them back in. I had this problem with my MSI 845E Max (Prime95 passes, but it suddenly hard locked when just at the desktop.) and I never got a random hard lock after reconnecting everything.

Gonna try that after I replace both drives in the system, a friend says he has had issues where the drive will shoow all ok, but wont work for OS use ever. It will be fine for storage use but for whatever reason it gunks up as an OS drive.

Dragon,

Had similar issues with a bad SATA cable. I'm not saying this is your problem but if you have any spares, try changing them out. It's a quick elimination of a potential problem.

ok well down to three parts left to swap, the chip, the board and the PSU

New HDD
Memory is known good
Tried known good 8800gts
New SATA cables (unpakcaged them today from an order I did forever ago)

At this point I am starting to think it is a board issue somewhere

Redduc, looks like Voltage may have been the issue, 45 minutes on so far, no lock.

Bumped the CPU voltage up to 1.325 and it appears to be stable so far, updating the BIOS very slowoly now as I am having massive issues with Comcast that will be resolved by monday AM (Per Corporate),

If everything works I will install the remaining drivers and see what happens. I am taking it very slowly currently to see if I can keep it stable prior to the next step in bringing it online.
