cool, i should'nt have a prob there... now...thing is, there is no "compaq" crap like a case to deal with, i have the board and cpu in a New ATX w/300watt pwr. thought i was clear, but alas... was late and i was tired ... i'd really like to (i might seem an idiot) use that compaq board... because of, exacxtly that, the sound and video, USB... all built in... it is a shame really, for me to buy "another" board, when i have four of em' here... my goal was (sadly) to find out ... of what i have in mo/bo's .... which offers me the best playability... and to then build a system out of it, to tweak.
the support on my Asus SP98AGP-X for CPU "max" i am unsure of... it says in the manual K-6 (pr-166 and faster) but gives me no top out speed... that really sucks! as i stated, i have a hard time finding info on these parts, especially related to O/C 'ing them.
as i myself have a pure love of puters, but no tech schooling...the "settings" get me confused sometimes. although, my determination gets me to where i need to be, i have to sometimes sound stupid while i make sense of it all...
anyways, thats a little insight on me... i think i have a gift for the ability to build.... but am not so technical just yet.
i need to learn about CAS2 and mem speed settings next....
i think probly my memory is doo-doo ... PC100 off eBay "compeq PN: 8206486-112" whatever that is? and another stick from "Circuit city" its "Centon" branded. i don't even know what the settings are, the instructions did'nt say. i have em set at "10ns" in the bios of my 450AMD system, and it works, but when i tried to "bump" cpu host clock, i went one up, to 504mhz... and i froze before windows start screen
so i think memory is to blame there... the settings are 100/33 now, i bumped to 112/37 with no luck.
anyways.. thanks alot for reading and replying!!!
<mod> i'm new here, this belongs in my other thread, D'oh! whatta dumb thing to do, i'm sorry guys.

this post went along with my current thread in "general discussion"... i shoulda hit reply instead, i screwed up. and now, out of there... this will probly go unanswered cuz nobody will have a clue what i'm talkin' bout.
