If you have your system close to the floor, it will help substantially to elevate them. I have my desktop roughtly 2.5ft off the ground and I rarely have to clean it out. Obviously, this depends greatly on how often you clean and other factors.

clean? what is that? never heard of that term before???? lol
i do clean often and have a huge air purifier because of my allergies.

i like this one

If there is that much dust floating around, I'd deep clean everything if I had allergies.

What made you decide a fan called TORNADO was going to sound anything except like a tornado?

Wait... I figured out how to fix the dust issue: Get an air filter from home depot, blow the tornado fans through it. Should have all the particulate dust in the air gone in about thirty seconds.:D

EDIT: Yes, that fan controller is nice, but I don't like their screens. They aren't so clear in real life and have poor viewing angles. I'd go FC-2. In the end, it doesn't matter, each control the fan. You won't have any RPM monitoring on the tornado though.

ive used other vantec products in the past and have liked their products.. the tornado just needs to be controlled :)

haha bro.. i have a HUGE hospital GRADE Hepa air purifier that was around 500$.. dont think it gets much better than that...

i guess one advantage to the tornado fan is if you have annoying kids or coworkers you wont have to listen to them lol!!!!!!

OMG, I haven't messed with a Tornado in ages. They are so damn noisy!

If I were you, I would regroup and spend a little more money, not on a fan controler, but rather on a new heatsink and a dremel tool. First, I would replace that stock cooler and that duct looking thing and replace the heatsink with a Cogage True Spirit. That will lower the temps on that hot running 920 in your system. Now for the Dremel part. Buy yourself a Dremel tool or a metal nibbler and cut that incredibly restrictive stamped grill out of the back side of the case, leaving the screw tabs for mounting the fan of course. Then, to keep the fingers out of the fan, get yourself a 92mm fan grille to put on that fan, which is much less restrictive. And then use a regular speed 92mm fan instead of that Tornado on the case. You can also do the same case mod for the front intake fan too and since it's behind the front face plate a fan grille isn't necessary. Cutting those "cheese grater" stamped grills out of your case is one of the cheapest and easiest mods to do to a case to improve airflow and lower noise levels. And leave the Tornado on the desk to impress people with and dont try to use the noisy bugger, as even on a fan controller and with the speeds cranked way down they still are noisier than a regular case fan.

i def would love to change the cpu fan i just hate pulling those damn things out im always afraid i will bend a pin of something and i have big hands so its usually not an easy job to pry out cpus for me..

i see you also have a gtx 260.. how are the temps on that for you?

Mine is is watercooled in a loop along with the processor. I ran Furmark on the extreme setting yesterday at 1920 x 1080 and temps got to 44 C. :D I really couldn't tell what air cooled temps are like with this card as I never ran it with the stock cooler on it.

As for changing the cooler, well that's not hard to do, especially with Intel. The processors are physically locked into the socket, so you don't have to worry about ripping the processor out when taking the heatsink off. And Intel doesn't use pins any more; their processors only have pads on them and the socket has the pins. And for a heatsink change you won't need to remove the processor from the socket; just use some Goof Off and Isotropy alcohol to remove the old heatsink thermal goop. Be sure to also pick some new thermal material up too. The TS comes with a tube of it, but there are better on the market, such as Arctic MX2 and MX4 and a whole bunch of others.

For removing the old heatsink there are 4 push pin dealies that you will need to rotate 90 degrees and pull up out of the board. Not hard at all.

awesome next paycheck i shall do that.. i notice the cpu doesnt get nearly as hot as the gtx-260 does.. the cpu fan on it now is pretty large

Heh, wait until you see a proper tower style heatsink like the TS. :D One thing before you order: check the height from the top of the cpu to the case side. You will need around 160 mm (6 1/3 to 6 1/2") room to mount that TS in the case. Just eyeballing the case, it looks like it will fit, but it doesn't hurt to check before ordering. If you have less room than that we would have to look at some other solution for you.

ok cool thanks!

ANY Other Powerful enough fan controllers for 92 mm and 80 mm vantec tornado fans that people have experience with??

My suggestion is to rewire the fans and mod them to run off of 5 volts instead of 12v. It would save you from having to buy a fan controller at least.

I did this with my Tornado fan and it was much quieter. Still noticeable, mind you, but not unbearable. With 5V my 92mm ran at 2200-2300RPM as opposed to 5000-5200. Wasn't nearly as loud.

Here is how to do it. That little guide is what I used to figure out how to run mine from the 5v side as well.

A word of caution with Tornados; leave the metal screen ON. It won't reduce airflow too much (not for a tornado at least) and will keep your fingers out of the blades. I've shaved a few knuckles messing with these.
