? on P4 operating heat

hi all, i have been looking for some time for information on what is the recommended temperature for the p4 1.7 to run at. i found this http://support.intel.com/support/processors/pentium4/thermal.htm chart on the intel site,its at the very bottom of the page, i however do not understand which is the cpu max heat and which is the case maximum heat can anyone help me with this?thank you for your time.

Basically, you should have a fan blowing in air that isn't over 40 degrees C. The preceding column tells you what the maximum temperature in the case should be
